What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?

We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Scottsdale restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:

Infrared

Infrared Cameras

Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.

Moisture

Moisture Meters

We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.

Air Movers

Air Movers

This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.

Generators

Ozone Generators

These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.

Xtractor

Xtreme Xtractor

This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.

Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About

Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Scottsdale, AZ, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:

Clean Water Damage

Clean Water Damage

Clean

This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.

Gray Water Damage

Gray Water Damage

Gray-Water

Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.

Black Water Damage

Black Water Damage

Black-Water

The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.

If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:

Stop the Source of Water
  • Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
  • Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
  • Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.

Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Scottsdale, AZ

Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.

We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.

After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.

Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.

The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.

  • Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
  • Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
  • Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
  • Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

Jet OUT, the private aviation company redefining ownership through its co-ownership and co-lease programs, expands to Arizona with its third regional base opening at Scottsdale Airport. Operations began in early May, with the facility reaching full capabilities by late summer. Jet OUT’s Scottsdale team will include 14 locally based employees, including pilots, maintenance professionals, customer service, and sales. The 3,000-square-foot facility will feature a private customer lounge, a dedicated sales office, and an on-site line maintenance base to support local operations.

Jet OUT will station two factory-delivered Citation CJ4 Gen2s in Scottsdale, enabling service for up to 16 owners per aircraft. With a home-based fleet and dedicated in-market support, Jet OUT offers a tailored aviation experience combining personalized service, convenience, and value for its community of like-minded co-owners.

The company offers two core programs – Co-Ownership and Co-Lease. Both options provide 20 flying days per share, per year, with terms ranging from one to five years. The Scottsdale launch will also introduce a new product called Co-Lease 10, a 12-month program that offers 10 annual flying days, designed to make private aviation more accessible with a reduced commitment.

“Expanding to Scottsdale is a natural next step as we continue to grow,” said Joseph Crivello, CEO of Jet OUT. “We are excited to bring Jet OUT’s unique local-national fleet to a new market, while enhancing access and service for our existing owners and clients. By unifying a national network of regional bases, we can provide our clients the operational benefits of home-basing their aircraft, without sacrificing the program benefits and sophistication that only a national operator can offer.”

Founded in 2018, Jet OUT streamlines private aviation, focusing on “Nonstop Efficiency.” By operating exclusively with factory-new aircraft and stationing its fleet near co-owners, the company passes significant savings directly to customers through transparent pricing. This has fueled the rapid growth of Jet OUT’s programs, establishing it as the fastest growing among the top 25 light jet operators in the U.S.

To ensure customers have a clear understanding of their travel options, Jet OUT provides an online Cost Calculator. This tool allows prospective clients to understand personalized pricing based on their specific needs, offering the opportunity to compare market rates for fixed and variable costs.

Recognizing the power of its growing community, Jet OUT offers its Insider Program, rewarding referrals with a complimentary round-trip flight for both the referrer and the new co-owner or co-lessee.

“With our tech-forward mindset and commitment to efficiency, we focus not just on how people fly, but on how we can deliver more value,” said Crivello. “Jet OUT is designed for customers who expect clarity, control and personal service.”

Jet OUT opened its second regional base in September 2024 at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, adding to its first location at Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport.

FILE - Dozens of snakes can be seen slithering and curling in a rookery, or snake den, in Colorado. They are just a few of hundreds of snakes in the rookery.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – An Arizona homeowner's discovery of a rattlesnake exhibiting an unusual color pattern left some snake experts rather amazed.

The western diamondback rattlesnake was uncovered in the backyard of a Scottsdale home on Friday.

Rattlesnake Solutions, a pest control service, posted the colorful photos on Facebook, stating that a pattern mutation may be the reason for the odd appearance.

"In the many thousands of diamondbacks we’ve seen over the years, this is a first," a business spokesperson wrote in the post.

(Rattlesnake Solutions / Facebook)

The snake’s tail stands out compared to the rest of its body as the base of the tail is bright white with black spots. According to the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), the typical pattern of a western diamondback rattlesnake is outlined in white and black, and the tail has alternating black and white banding.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department says that Arizona has more rattlesnake species than any other state.

The pest service remarks that the area where the snake was found is not a hybridization zone, ruling out any possibilities of breeding with other snakes. According to the NDOW, the western diamondback rattlesnake is a venomous species that uses its venom to subdue its prey.

(VWPics/Universal Images Group / Getty Images)

"We want people to know that there is a higher than average chance that they might encounter a rattlesnake when they are out recreating," said Thomas Jones, amphibians and reptiles program manager for the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

ALLIGATOR MADE FAMOUS IN ‘HAPPY GILMORE’ DIES AT MORE THAN 80 YEARS OLD

If bitten, MedlinePlus.gov suggests restricting movement to the affected area. If bitten by a rattlesnake, copperhead, or cottonmouth, keep the affected area at heart level. If bitten by a coral snake, cobra, or exotic snake, keep the affected area below heart level to reduce the flow of venom.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A diamondback rattlesnake with a peculiar "pattern mutation" is getting a lot of attention online after the animal was reportedly found in a Scottsdale backyard.

Rattlesnake Solutions, which works to educate the public on snakes and relocate venomous reptiles, recently reported responding to a "weird" call involving a snake with a striking look.

VERSIÓN EN ESPAÑOL: Una Serpiente de cascabel con una 'mutación' fue hallada en el patio trasero de una casa en Scottsdale

In pictures posted on Rattlesnake Solutions' social feeds, the snake's scaly patterns are more curved and circular, almost like little mushrooms, rather than the familiar diamond-shaped pattern that is recognizable to most Arizonans.

"In the many thousands of Diamondbacks we've seen over the years, this is a first," Rattlesnake Solutions wrote in an Instagram post about the discovery.

The social posts triggered many curious reactions from onlookers who were stunned by the snake's unusual pattern.

Rattlesnake Solutions theorized that "of all the possibilities, it's likely it's just a funky-looking diamondback" and not likely the result of two different snake species mating.

Other diamondback snakes with rare patterns have been reported in the wild.

A snake with no pattern at all was reported near Austin a few years ago. Another "unusual" diamondback snake was discovered in Texas in the late 1960s, which consisted of "dark brown paravertebral stripes" rather than the classic diamond shapes, according to an article published in Kansas Academy of Science.

In 2020, a biologist reported finding a "patternless" eastern diamondback snake in Florida that didn't have the normal color markings, according to WTXL News.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Gov. Katie Hobbs has chosen to sign into law a controversial bill to skip a public vote on a proposed development in Scottsdale.

The Arizona Legislature passed the bill on Tuesday, which blocks a 2026 referendum on the controversial development by Axon, a Scottsdale-based technology and weapons company. The development would reportedly tout a hotel, the Axon headquarters and nearly 2,000 apartment units near the Loop 101 and Hayden Road.

“Today marks a defining moment for Axon, for Scottsdale, and for the state of Arizona. I am incredibly grateful to Gov. Katie Hobbs for signing SB 1543 into law, and to the many Arizona legislators, business leaders, and community members who stood behind this important measure,” said Axon CEO Rick Smith in an emailed statement. “The hundreds of Axon team members and Scottsdale residents who made their voices heard played a critical role in shaping this outcome — and I offer my thanks to each of them.” He had previously said the company would leave Scottsdale if it had to wait for the ballot measure.

Advocates for the project said it will bring billions of dollars in economic impact. Still, a citizen-led group worried about traffic, density and water concerns and gathered enough signatures for residents to decide for themselves. The Scottsdale City Council passed the rezoning last year.

“With the passage of SB 1543, Axon is poised to expand our Scottsdale headquarters, increasing our Arizona workforce to more than 5,500 high-tech jobs and generating an estimated $38 billion in economic impact over the next decade. The legislation ensures that our company — and our people — can continue to thrive in the community where we started,” said Smith after the bill’s signing.

Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky had sent a letter to Hobbs earlier in the week, pleading with her to veto the legislation, saying it would negatively impact communities in the state.

“SB 1543 poses a serious threat to local democracy,” the letter read. “It preempts the authority of local governments - elected by and accountable to their communities - to make decisions about planning, zoning, and development. By removing these decisions from the hands of local residents and their representatives, this legislation bypasses the democratic process and sets a dangerous precedent.”

Details about potential action taken by the city aren’t yet known, but the city stressed earlier in the week it would be “considering every possible action to uphold the rights of its residents and retain local zoning authority.”

Arizona’s Family reporter David Caltabiano contributed to this report.
