What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?

We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Seaside restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:

Infrared

Infrared Cameras

Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.

Moisture

Moisture Meters

We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.

Air Movers

Air Movers

This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.

Generators

Ozone Generators

These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.

Xtractor

Xtreme Xtractor

This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.

Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About

Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Seaside, FL, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:

Clean Water Damage

Clean Water Damage

Clean

This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.

Gray Water Damage

Gray Water Damage

Gray-Water

Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.

Black Water Damage

Black Water Damage

Black-Water

The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.

If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:

Stop the Source of Water
  • Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
  • Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
  • Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.

Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Seaside, FL

Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.

We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.

After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.

Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.

The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.

  • Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
  • Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
  • Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
  • Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

The southern part of the country is known for a plethora of beach towns that range from small-town charm to spring-break party scene and everything in between.

Southern Living recently released the “Best Beach Towns in the South 2025” based on reader input. The Sunshine State was the most well represented on the list with 19. However, the top spot went to a beach town in Georgia.

“Yes, we’re a bit biased, but our region is home to some of the finest stretches of sand and coastal communities in the country,” according to Southern Living editors. “Whether it’s the salty marshes and bustling boardwalks along the South Carolina coast or the turquoise waters and cobblestone streets along Florida’s Highway 30A, there’s a beach town here for every type of traveler.”

Did any Brevard cities make the “Southern Living Best Beach Towns” list?

Just one.

Cocoa Beach came in at No. 36. The publication noted the city’s year-round surfing weather and view of rocket launches.

“A favorite spot for surfers, it sits in the heart of Florida’s Space Coast and is around 20 miles from the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral,” the publication read. “Hang with locals at the iconic Cocoa Beach Pier, the perfect setting for catching waves or views of the launches.”

The best beach town in the south according to Southern Living

The No. 1 spot went to a place in Georgia: St. Simons Island.

Located on Georgia’s second largest barrier island, St. Simons sits between the Frederica River and the Atlantic Ocean. It’s known for beautiful bike paths, history landmarks and of course gorgeous beaches.

“Like the ebbing tide that reveals pluff mud speckled with oyster beds, visitors come in waves to this alluring town where the peel ’n’ eat shrimp and gorgeous sunsets are requirements,” according to Southern Living.

Southern Living used a third-party, Proof, to conduct an online survey. More than 10,000 people were polled between July 10 and Aug. 21, 2024.

With 1,350 miles of coastline, the state of Florida offers there are plenty of options when it comes to beaches. From curling waves and the golden sands along the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the warm Gulf of Mexico waters gently lapping onto the white sand beaches to the west, there truly is a beach for everyone.

If it's white sand beaches you're looking for, you've come to the right place—the Sunshine State is home to some truly beautiful ones; so much so, they've been recognized as some of the best beaches in the U.S. Here, we take a look at a handful or so of the prettiest white sand beaches in Florida, starting on the Panhandle and working our way south.

This Florida Beach Has The Whitest Sand In The South

Panama City Beach

With 27 miles of beaches along Florida's Panhandle, you're sure to find just the right one for you in Panama City Beach. This stretch of coastline is broken into seemingly endless public beach access points, and you could easily spend weeks or even months exploring each to find your favorite.

If you're looking for a private island experience, hitch a ride aboard the Shell Island Shuttle. The uninhabited seven-mile-long barrier island is just three-quarters of a mile at its widest, so there's plenty of space to stake your claim for the day. As its name implies, the island is terrific for its shelling; keep an eye out for sand dollars, periwinkles, conch shells, pin shells, whelk, and olive shells.

Pensacola

At the westernmost edge of Florida is Pensacola and its spectacular shores, including Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key (Spanish for "lost island"). These beaches are so spectacular, in fact, that they've been ranked among the best in the U.S. by Dr. Beach, the Travel Channel, TripAdvisor, and USA Today.

But don't take these experts' word for it — plan a visit and discover them for yourself. Fifteen public sugar-white sand beaches beaches spanning 18 miles in the Pensacola area are all yours to stroll, swim, sun, and savor.

Destin

There's a scientific reason for the soft, white sands of Destin's beaches: quartz. At the end of the last Ice Age, the rising Apalachicola River carried quartz particles from the Appalachian Mountains down to the Gulf of Mexico. When the Ice Age ended and the sea levels rose, the quartz sand formed the beaches found along the Destin area's shorelines.

Today, Destin's sandy beaches are made of finely ground, perfectly round quartz crystals that account for the powder-soft white sand beaches that the area is known for. Not only that, but the sand stays cool, even in the hottest summer months.

Clearwater Beach

There's a very good reason that Clearwater Beach has been named the #1 beach in the U.S. multiple times, and it's the beach itself! What makes it stand out among the 35 miles of beaches that stretch from Dunedin and Honeymoon Island south to St. Pete Beach is its powder-soft, glistening white sand, not to mention its width! The beach seemingly stretches on and on from the turquoise water to Mandalay Avenue and Gulfview Boulevard.

The fun doesn't stop in Clearwater Beach when the sun sets, either. Stick around for the nightly sunset celebration and see if you can spot the elusive green flash!

Siesta Key

Just outside of Sarasota is Siesta Key, a terrific spot to lay your beach blanket, pop up the umbrella, and spend the day… or more. This stretch of beach was ranked among the 25 Best Beaches in the World by TripAdvisor in 2022, and was named the #1 Beach in the U.S. in TripAdvisor's 2020 Traveler's Choice Awards, and it's easy to see why. The seemingly endless stretch of shoreline has the same quartz-crystal powdery sand as the beaches on the Panhandle, and the sand stays somewhat cool in the hot summer months.

The public beach at Siesta Key is hospitable with its large parking lot and concession stands for refreshing drinks and bites. If you're staying in the area, catch a ride on the free trolley and hop off at the beach to avoid searching for a place to park.

Marco Island

Nearly 30 miles of idyllic beaches stretch along Florida's Paradise Coast, from Naples south to Marco Island and the Ten Thousand Islands on the Gulf coast. While all of the beaches in this part of the state are pretty spectacular, one that we recommend is South Marco Beach, which has one of two public beach accesses on Marco Island.

There's plenty of room to spread out on this beach, and the harder packed sand at the shoreline makes it easy to walk along in search of seashells.

The 12 Best Things To Do In Panama City Beach, Florida

Panama City Beach isn’t just a spring break destination. There’s fun to be had here year-round, whether you’re traveling with family, having a weekend away with girlfriends, or looking for a quiet and romantic getaway. Plus, the 27 miles of shoreline on this part of the Gulf coast is home to some of the most beautiful (and popular) beaches in Florida, with soft white sand, emerald water, and plenty of easy access points.

These recommendations are all in Panama City Beach proper. Panama City, which is more residential, is a separate area that’s also worth exploring. We’ve made the planning easy for you with activity and dining suggestions for different types of groups. You’ll be surprised by how much this beach town has to offer.

Panama City Beach For A Family Trip

Fuel up on French toast, croissant sandwiches, and coffee at Andy’s Flour Power, a casual and kid-friendly breakfast and lunch spot that attracts tourists and locals alike. Don’t pass the bakery case without ordering a cinnamon roll or a bright green pistachio muffin.

Imagine a mall crossed with an amusement park and a restaurant district, and then place this massive complex right off the beach. That’s Pier Park in a nutshell. You can definitely spend an entire day here because there’s something of interest for every family member: shopping (both local stores and major retailers, like Target); attractions like laser tag, mini golf, and the Skywheel; plus family-friendly restaurants ranging from Five Guys to Margaritaville. Plus, if it’s a rainy day, you can see a movie at the IMAX Grand Theater.

Spend some time out on the water and go dolphin spotting. Some tour companies, like Coastal Wildlife Adventures offer private sunset cruises or the opportunity to swim with the creatures. Larger groups can take a ride on the Sea Screamer, a 73-foot boat.

While the main beach is family-friendly, it can be crowded. For a more secluded experience, head to St. Andrews State Park, which has 1½ miles of pristine shorefront that isn’t lined with hotels and buildings. There’s even a lagoon area with a shallow area that’s perfect for young swimmers. Beyond the beach, the park has tons of amenities, including picnic areas, a playground, nature trails, and bathrooms.

Panama City Beach For A Girlfriend Getaway

The sand and water here is truly is unlike other beaches in Florida, so kick off your beach day with brunch at a waterfront restaurant like Barefoot on the Beach. Or grab coffee and doughnuts at the adorable Thomas' Donut and Snack Shop and bring them to the beach to enjoy under an umbrella.

While there are plenty of shopping opportunities at Pier Park, you can follow this “trail” of independently-owned stores specializing in home items. From plants and garden supplies to locally made art, you’ll find lots of treasures along the way and support local businesses, too.

The only thing better than enjoying a margarita poolside is enjoying it in the ocean. Through Crusin’ Tikis, you and your group can bring your own drinks on a floating tiki boat and cruise around the Grand Lagoon. Depending on the time of day, you can catch an amazing sunset over the water, or hang out on a sandbar.

The Panama City Beach area is filled with places where you can get your fill of locally caught shrimp, fish, and other types of seafood. For an elevated experience, try Saltwater Grill or Capt. Anderson’s. Saltwater has a massive saltwater aquarium filled with tropical fish, and a menu with dishes like crab cakes and blackened snapper, as well as an over-the-top seafood tower. Capt. Anderson’s—voted a top seafood restaurant by our readers—offers stuffed Florida lobster and a menu of Greek-style dishes cooked over an open hearth, like Grouper Imperial.

Panama City Beach For A Romantic Weekend

Spend time outside doing a fun activity that’s perfect for two: kayaking. At Camp Helen State Park, you can rent a tandem kayak and paddle around scenic Lake Powell, the largest coastal dune lake in the state—it covers nearly 800 acres. The park also has trails for peaceful nature walks.

Serenity Spa at Bluegreen’s Bayside Resort has a menu of treatment options to help you relax, including a couple’s massage. Treatments include access to the sauna, whirlpool, steam room, and relaxation lounge for one hour before and after your appointment. Firefly is the go-to place in town for a special occasion or romantic dinner. The dining room is magical at night with a huge indoor tree that sparkles with fairy lights. Indulge in Gulf grouper, Australian rack of lamb, or a bone-in ribeye, and toast to a great vacation.

As vacationers drive onto Florida’s 30A scenic highway from the East, they’ll soon approach the scrub oak trees and European-style architecture of Rosemary Beach.

The community on Northwest Florida’s Panhandle was established in 1995 but has the feel of a much older beach town, modeled on colonial structures in the Dutch West Indies, St. Augustine and New Orleans. “It usually captivates people as soon as they pull onto 30A and they’re like, ‘Wow, Rosemary,’ ” said Coco Gilliam, an independent travel agent with Magic on Main Travel who lives in the area.

There are cobblestone streets, shops and restaurants steps from the white sand beach. The town was among Vrbo’s hottest vacation destinations for 2025 during spring break and Memorial Day, according to a January news release.

Rosemary is just one of many seaside communities on 30A, each with its own look and feel. Travelers from the Southeast may be familiar with the popular destination, but here’s what new visitors should know.

What is 30A?

Located between Panama City Beach and Destin, 30A is a 24-mile corridor. The area is home to state parks, coastal dune lakes and more than 10 distinct communities. “You can go to the beach, but it's the towns that, for me, just bring it to a full vacation,” Gilliam said.

Most feature vacation rental homes, but some also have hotels. Visitors can easily ride bikes between them; some houses and resorts provide them, but visitors can also find rentals in each town, according to Gilliam.

What other beach towns are on 30A?

Along with Rosemary Beach, the area's communities include:

Seaside: “That's usually the first town people go to because they recognize it from ‘The Truman Show,’ ” Gilliam said. Seaside’s cottages and main square served as the backdrop for much of the 1998 film starring Jim Carrey. The area is highly walkable and kid-friendly, she added, with beloved restaurants like Bud & Alley’s, which overlooks the gulf, and activities from live music in the amphitheater to farmers’ markets.

Seagrove: Gilliam described Seagrove as a "quieter spot” next to Seaside. While still close enough to walk between the two, the area’s location offers “slightly” more affordable prices, she added.

Alys Beach: Alys’ 158 acres feature white houses, including villas and courtyard homes that draw on the architecture of islands like Bermuda and Antigua. Visitors will find a 20-acre nature preserve, along with shops and restaurants, including The Citizen, a coastal tavern. The community also hosts activities like the Digital Graffiti Festival, where artwork is projected onto its white walls.

Grayton Beach: Grayton Beach is “more of an artsy area,” Gilliam said. Tourists can check out local institutions like The Red Bar, which is located in an old general store and hosts live jazz and other music, and explore Grayton Beach State Park. Guests will find hiking, fishing, campgrounds and more on the park’s nearly 2,000 acres.

Blue Mountain Beach: Blue Mountain is less well-known among tourists than some other nearby communities, Gilliam said. Located closer to 30A’s western entrance, she noted that the area is more affordable and the more laid-back vibe has its perks. “The beaches are going to be less crowded over there because you don't have as many houses built up in that area,” Gilliam said.

When is the best time to visit 30A?

Gilliam said the area is “becoming a year-round destination,” but the most popular season runs from May through October when the water is warm. However, the winter months can mean fewer crowds.

“If you're OK not getting in the water and swimming but enjoying what there is to experience in all the beach towns, the off-season is a great time to come,” she said.

How do you get to 30A?

Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) in Panama City is the most convenient airport, according to Gilliam. The airport is located roughly a half-hour drive from 30A.

Travelers can also fly into the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) or Pensacola International Airport (PNS), but those are about an hour and an hour-and-a-half drive away, respectively. Gilliam recommended renting a car to explore the area more easily.

Driving in is another option. 30A is less than a daylong road trip away from many cities, including Birmingham, Alabama, (roughly four-and-a-half hours); Atlanta (a little over five hours); and even Nashville (about seven hours).

How expensive is 30A?

There isn’t one price point for the area, as rates can vary depending on where guests stay and the type of accommodations they choose.

For example, nightly rates at The Lodge 30A – billed as an “affordable stay” – start at $176 in early September, according to its website. The Pearl Hotel, a luxury property in Rosemary Beach, starts at $555 per night for the same dates. If travelers rent a six-bedroom house, however, they’re going to be looking at “way more,” Gilliam said.

“Especially depending on the time of year you visit, the price range can also vary,” she added.
