What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?
We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Flint restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:

Infrared Cameras
Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.

Moisture Meters
We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.

Air Movers
This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.

Ozone Generators
These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.

Xtreme Xtractor
This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.
Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About
Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Flint, MI, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:

Clean Water Damage

This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.

Gray Water Damage

Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.

Black Water Damage

The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.
If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:

- Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
- Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
- Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.
Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Flint, MI
Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.
We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.
After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.
Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.
The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.
- Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
- Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
- Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
- Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

FLINT TWP, MI - A long-discussed plan by General Motors to consolidate vehicle storage into a single site near its Flint Assembly plant took a significant step forward this spring.
The Flint Township Planning Commission recently approval a site plan for a new GM storage lot, allowing development of the lot on vacant land along Westminster Drive, near Van Slyke and Maple roads.
The commission’s approval follows a conditional rezoning of the property granted by the township board in 2024, which cleared the way for GM to build on the 70-acre parcel.
“This property will be used to support the $1-billion, long-term investment GM recently announced with the purpose and mission of consolidating all our off-site yards into one,” Matthew Williams, a GM outbound logistics official, told the township board last summer.
Plans call for the lot to accommodate up to 7,000 vehicles, with the goal of reducing GM’s reliance on scattered off-site storage across Genesee County.
The automaker said last year the project supports its $1 billion investment in Flint Assembly and Flint Metal Center, aimed at preparing the plants for next-generation, gas-powered heavy-duty trucks.
The site plan was approved with a list of conditions to address environmental, safety, and neighborhood concerns.
Among them are requirements for an 8-foot berm and greenbelt buffer between the lot and adjacent residential properties, shielded lighting, stormwater drainage improvements, and restricted access that limits traffic through residential areas.
Emergency-only access will be permitted from Westminster Drive, while vehicle entry and exit will be limited to manned gates on Holiday Drive and Van Slyke Road.
According to planning documents, the lot surface will be fully paved or concrete, and only operable vehicles will be stored there.
No parking decks or generator-powered light towers will be allowed once construction is complete. GM expects the site to be operational by fall 2025.
Finished and nearly finished GM Silverado and Sierra truck have been located at various locations around the county for several years and became most visible during the peak of a semiconductor shortage in 2021.
Trucks have been stored in outdoor lots near Flint Assembly, at the old Sports Creek Raceway, Bishop Airport’s economy parking lot, and a vacant field east of I-75 and north of Mt. Morris Road.
In 2023, Flint Township approved plans from Precision Vehicle Holdings of Wayne to build a smaller vehicle storage lot at the southeast corner of Van Slyke and Bristol roads on the former site of a coney island restaurant that was demolished.
But storing vehicles at multiple locations increased GM’s cost of doing business, said Chad McCarty, the owner of R1 Consulting, which is building the new lot.
Flint Assembly, which has approximately 4,600 hourly and salaried employees, was built in 1947 off Van Slyke Road, making it GM’s longest-running assembly plant in North America.
It is Flint’s last remaining assembly plant and is located adjacent to the company’s Flint Engine Operations and less than two miles from the Flint Metal Center.
If the project is not completed within two years, the zoning will revert to its original designation unless the township grants an extension.

Vehicle Accidents in Michigan
Accidents involving personal injuries remain one of the leading causes of both physical harm and emotional distress in Michigan. Whether it’s a minor fender-bender or a more severe collision, accidents like the one at W Atherton Rd and Penbrook Ln highlight the risks that drivers and passengers face daily on the roads. Even seemingly small accidents can lead to serious consequences, with injuries that may not always be immediately apparent.
In Michigan, particularly in cities like Flint, there are a variety of factors that contribute to vehicle collisions. These include driver behavior (e.g., speeding or distracted driving), adverse weather conditions, and infrastructure concerns. As urban areas continue to grow, it’s essential for both drivers and pedestrians to remain vigilant, follow traffic laws, and stay aware of their surroundings to minimize the risk of accidents.
This particular crash serves as a reminder to always drive carefully, especially in busy intersections or areas with high pedestrian activity. It’s also crucial to be cautious of road conditions, as inclement weather or poor visibility can increase the likelihood of accidents. Michigan’s road safety efforts continue to evolve, but crashes like this one demonstrate that road safety is a shared responsibility between drivers, pedestrians, and local authorities.
If you or someone you know has been involved in a vehicle collision, it’s essential to seek medical attention, even if injuries seem minor. Some injuries, such as whiplash or internal injuries, may not show symptoms immediately but could still have long-term effects. Additionally, contacting a legal professional can help protect your rights and ensure you receive the compensation you deserve for your injuries or damages.
After an accident, legal representation can assist with navigating the complexities of insurance claims, medical expenses, and recovery. An experienced attorney can also help ensure that you don’t face unfair settlement offers from insurance companies.

Vehicle Accidents in Michigan
Motor vehicle accidents, particularly those that involve personal injury, are a significant concern in Michigan. This particular incident, occurring at 1:31 AM, is a stark reminder of the dangers that can arise on the road, particularly during the late-night and early-morning hours when visibility is reduced, and driver fatigue or impaired driving may increase the likelihood of accidents.
Michigan has made strides in improving road safety, but traffic collisions remain one of the leading causes of injury and death in the state. In urban areas like Flint City, the risks are compounded by high traffic volumes, older infrastructure, and a range of factors such as weather conditions and reckless driving behaviors.
Accidents like the one on Flushing Rd and Sutton Ave can lead to a variety of injuries, ranging from minor bruises to more severe, life-threatening conditions. Even if injuries appear to be minor at the scene, it’s essential for those involved to seek medical attention immediately, as some injuries might not show symptoms right away. Internal injuries, whiplash, or concussions, for example, can often go undiagnosed without proper medical evaluation.
As with many accidents, the cause of the crash may involve a combination of factors, such as distracted driving, speeding, or failure to follow traffic signals. Weather conditions—such as rain, snow, or fog—could also contribute to decreased visibility and hazardous road conditions, making careful driving even more critical.
If you or someone you know has been involved in a vehicle collision, consulting with an attorney is an important step to take. Legal assistance can help you navigate the complexities of dealing with insurance claims, especially when you’re dealing with injuries, medical bills, and lost wages. Legal representation ensures that your rights are protected, and can also help you secure fair compensation for the injuries or damages sustained in the accident.
It’s important to remember that vehicle accidents not only affect the individuals involved but can have a lasting emotional and financial impact on their families as well. Seeking legal and medical help can provide support in recovering from these traumatic events.

Wraith Films will be at Flint’s Dort Financial Center (3501 Lapeer Rd.) on Wed., June 11 from 2 p.m. - 7 p.m. and is looking to fill the arena with as many enthusiastic people as possible. You can register here for the free event.
It will also feature a DJ and a host of comedians who will entertain between takes.
“Clay” is an underdog boxing story starring Alexander Wraith, known for playing Dee on the CW’s “Naomi.” Wraith has also been in shows like “The Mandalorian,” “Orange is the New Black,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and ”Hawaii Five-O."
“Clay” also stars Eminem’s brother, Nathan Mathers, and the daughters of Clint Eastwood and Jean-Claude Van Damme, Francesca Eastwood and Bianca Van Damme.
“The movie shoot is going to be really fun. You’re going to have comedians there and a DJ. It’s not everyday you get to be invited to be a part of a movie set and be in a film. It’s pretty rare,” Wraith told MLive. “I think it’s a cool opportunity for people to be involved in something which could possibly be a big thing.”
Wraith says while the big fight scene will take place at the arena in Flint, most of the movie was filmed all over Detroit.
“I was trying to capture Detroit and get some beautiful staples of the city like the Penobscot Building, the Joe Louis Fist, the Ambassador Bridge, the Coney Island corner... just places around Detroit that really represent the city.”
Wraith says once filming wraps, he hopes it will premiere about six months later. And he says you may be surprised at some of the stars making cameos.
“We have cameos from the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dolph Lundgren. There are also a lot of UFC fighters in it.”
Wraith says he hopes people will enjoy the movie shoot and be part of something which has potential to be big.
“We don’t want to say too much about the movie, but it could be a historic thing. Who knows with this movie, but when they were filming ”Rocky" or “Cinderella Man,” no one knew it would be that big. So you never know."
Wraith says this is more than just an underdog sports film. He says he wants it to be a showcase for the city of Detroit.
“I think the film represents Detroit in a really cool way because it shows the heart of the city and the heart of the people.”
