What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?
We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Hampton Bays restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:

Infrared Cameras
Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.

Moisture Meters
We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.

Air Movers
This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.

Ozone Generators
These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.

Xtreme Xtractor
This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.
Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About
Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Hampton Bays, NY, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:

Clean Water Damage

This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.

Gray Water Damage

Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.

Black Water Damage

The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.
If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:

- Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
- Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
- Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.
Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Hampton Bays, NY
Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.
We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.
After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.
Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.
The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.
- Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
- Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
- Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
- Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Just in time for Flag Day, and in continuing its mission to take history out of the textbooks by honoring local veterans, the Hampton Bays School District marked its 37th Flag Day celebration this week and paid tribute to the Honorable Patrick Gunn, Southampton Town justice.
During the celebration, second-graders spoke about Gunn’s life, read poems and sang patriotic songs, including "Yankee Doodle" and "Fifty Nifty United States." Prior to the event, the students learned about the U.S. flag and its history.
Following the ceremony, a flag was raised to honor Gunn, who is the 82nd veteran to be honored by the district.
Gunn enlisted in the United States Navy shortly after high school and was assigned as an operations specialist to the Norfolk-based guided missile destroyer USS Farragut (DDG-37). During his tenure in the Navy, he received the Navy Expeditionary Medal, a Sea Service Ribbon and Commander Sixth Fleet commendation. He was honorably discharged in 1984 at the rank of petty officer second class (E-5).
After receiving his college degree in history and politics from LIU Southampton College and his MBA from LIU Post, he worked as an adjunct professor of business at Southampton College and attended Touro Law School in the evening. After receiving his law degree, Gunn worked as a Suffolk County assistant district attorney, East Hampton assistant town attorney, Quogue Village prosecutor and in his solo practice as a defense attorney.

"The Hampton Bays Public Schools recognizes Justice Gunn for his commitment to his country, family and our community. In his honor, we proudly raise the flag in his name," the district said.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — A longtime Westhampton hotel has undergone a transformation, with new owners and a new name.
On May 21, the Three Ducks Hotel opened at 19 Seabreeze Avenue, at the site of the longtime Seabreeze Motel, originally built in 1956.
The boutique hotel, managed by FIRM Hospitality Group, "thoughtfully facilitates meaningful guest experiences rooted in nature, authenticity, and discovery," according to new ownership.
The new hotel represents a collaboration between designer-developers Elizabeth Bakhash and Randall Stone of Three Ducks Hospitality, and aims to introduce "a lighthearted yet elevated approach to luxury, and a genuine connection to the Westhampton community."
The hotel features 12 rooms, upscale amenities, "experience-forward design, and a refined yet relaxed atmosphere that captures the ease and charm of the area," a release said.

At Three Ducks, guest can enjoy a locally sourced breakfast at a newly built structure, The Barn.
The hotel offers concierge service, and guests are encouraged to explore the area with curated guides, complimentary bicycles, and an on-site Moke available for hourly or daily rental.
Located near Rogers, Pike’s, and Cupsogue beaches and within walking distance of farm stands, shops, and restaurants, the hotel makes it easy to experience Westhampton "like a local", the new owners said.
A flower farmstand at the front desk and a market stocked with local products "add to the sense of place, while bookable in-room massages offer a way to recharge," a release said.
Each room offers private garden seating, with a communal, wood-burning firepit outside.
"The central location of Three Ducks naturally enhances the experience, truly allowing our guests to live like locals. Whether taking a short drive or bike ride to the lively center of the village or enjoying pristine beaches," Stone said.
According to the new owners, their vision was rooted in a philosophy of "garden-fresh interiors," each space inspired by nature.
The Guest House features five different guest room types, ranging from standard to a two-bedroom suite, starting at $495. Rooms feature organic details include pebble-inspired lighting, ash wood floors, and textured clay tiles paired with a soft, natural color palette drawn directly from the environment.
Rooms feature window benches and each space opens to a private garden, "reinforcing the seamless connection between inside and out," owners said.
A new roof allows for vaulted ceilings; each room allows for ample storage and secondary vanity spaces that extend the bathrooms.
"The Barn, The Gardens, and The Guest House cultivate an appreciation for simpler, meaningful experiences through regional design influence with a modern touch," owners said.
Each room features work by abstract artist Thiciana Cruz. Additionally, 12 unique commissioned poems by Chris Vitiello can be found in each room, inspired by the playful ducks and the surrounding landscape. Ranging from serious to cheeky, the poems are designed to surprise, delight, and encourage a creative, fun atmosphere, owners said.
"Our approach is about going deep into the details — every texture, every material, every corner is considered," Bakhash said. "It’s those small, intentional choices that quietly shape the mood of a space and make it feel truly alive."
Three Ducks is designed to accommodate a variety of private events, including weddings, corporate retreats, and brand activations. The property offers flexible event spaces such as The Barn, which can be reserved for fully catered private gatherings. Full and partial buyouts are available, allowing groups to enjoy exclusive access to the hotel and its grounds.
In addition, Three Ducks provides comprehensive concierge planning services, coordinating everything from transportation and guest amenities to in-room gifts and tailored activity itineraries. The hotel partners with local vendors, including nearby flower farms and top-tier caterers, for events.
