What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?
We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Toledo restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:

Infrared Cameras
Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.

Moisture Meters
We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.

Air Movers
This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.

Ozone Generators
These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.

Xtreme Xtractor
This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.
Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About
Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Toledo, OH, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:

Clean Water Damage

This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.

Gray Water Damage

Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.

Black Water Damage

The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.
If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:

- Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
- Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
- Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.
Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Toledo, OH
Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.
We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.
After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.
Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.
The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.
- Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
- Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
- Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
- Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo’s popular downtown concert series, Party in the Park, returns this Friday, offering free live music and community festivities throughout the summer.
Local leaders and businesses say the event is a welcome boost for families and downtown establishments.
Party in the Park will run nearly every Friday throughout the season.
The concert series, held at Promenade Park, promises live music, food and family fun. It’s also seen as an economic driver for local restaurants and bars.
“It helps out here, especially during the weekend,” Letrae Walker, manager at City Egg, said. “People can come out here and travel, get good views. It's just a beautiful place to be out here during the weekend.”
ConnecToledo, one of the organizers of the event, has teamed up with local bars and restaurants to host pre- and post-party events, creating a vibrant nightlife atmosphere.
“We’re going to have 10 local options for cocktails on site,” said Cheryl Hardy, community engagement and activation specialist with ConnecToledo. “We're very, very excited that this is something local.”
For many residents, the concert series holds a nostalgic place in their hearts.
“I remember coming to Party in the Park in the past. So glad that it's coming back,” Philip Buerk, a former Toledo resident, said. “It was a nice activity down here, especially with downtown, how revitalized it is now with all the new shops and places to hang out. So it's a really nice, good event for families to come to.”
City leaders echo that sentiment, saying the return of Party in the Park brings more than just entertainment — it’s a sign of community spirit and resilience.
“It's just going to be a good time for everybody to come down on Friday and enjoy a free concert in the park,” Toledo City Council President Carrie Hartman said.
Hartman added that the free concerts are especially meaningful during tough economic times.
“I think this is really going to benefit Toledoans,” she said. “Especially because we know a lot of families are struggling right now. It’s hard out there. So free concerts downtown that everybody can enjoy — bring your families, bring a blanket, sit in the park. I think this is just a lovely thing that we can do to bring community and fun to our downtown city.”
Party in the Park is expected to draw hundreds to the heart of downtown Toledo each week, celebrating music, local culture and the city’s ongoing revitalization.

Two-Vehicle Collisions in West Toledo Neighborhoods
Intersections like Berkeley Dr and W Sylvania Ave are common crash sites in densely populated areas of Toledo. With local traffic, nearby schools, and frequent turning vehicles, even routine drives through these zones can become dangerous—particularly when drivers are distracted, fail to yield, or misjudge oncoming traffic.
Two-vehicle crashes at intersections often involve side impacts or front-end collisions, both of which can lead to a range of injuries. Prompt medical response, like the one seen in this incident, is vital to preventing complications and ensuring proper care for those involved.
As part of its traffic safety efforts, Toledo continues to assess intersection improvements and implement public awareness campaigns. Still, preventing crashes ultimately relies on driver awareness and caution—especially in mixed-use corridors where pedestrians, buses, and cyclists are also present.
If you or someone you care about was injured in this crash, now is the time to explore your options for care and support.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo is remembering one of its most iconic voices,. Bob Kelly, a beloved radio personality whose career spanned more than five decades, died on his 84th birthday. Known off-air as Norm Plummer, Kelly leaves behind a legacy of humor, kindness and inspiration in the broadcasting community.
Kelly was a fixture on Toledo’s radio airwaves for over 50 years, earning the admiration of colleagues and listeners alike. Friends and former coworkers said his unique personality and dedication to his craft made a lasting impact on the community.
“He was funny. He was quick-witted, just sharp as a tack with the lines. But mostly he was a kind person, very gentle,” said Tom Waniewski, a longtime friend and former co-worker of Kelly.
Former WTOL 11 news anchor Jerry Anderson, who worked in Toledo television for nearly four decades, said Kelly helped shape his own career in broadcasting.
“He wasn’t that voice of God guy on radio. He was just Bob,” Anderson said. “He had a perfect voice for what he did in radio. And so quick, so funny. I mean, boom, boom, boom. His mind, I just marveled at.”
Anderson shared a personal moment with Kelly that left a lasting impression.
“I told him, ‘Bob, you’re the reason I got into broadcasting.’ And without missing a beat he goes, ‘Well, that’s a lot of blame to lay on any one person.’ And that was just Bob,” Anderson recalled.
Both Anderson and Waniewski emphasized the influence Kelly had on their lives and the legacy he left behind.
“Toledo has lost—we’ve lost—an icon,” Anderson said. “But you know what, they can’t swipe your memories from you. And I have a lot of good ones with Bob.”
“I never heard him say a bad word about anybody,” Waniewski added. “And it was important to me, as my career was growing, that he was very supportive of what I did.”
Funeral arrangements for Bob Kelly have not yet been announced. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

It's not identity theft — because "Identity theft is not a joke, Jim" — but there will be a familiar face in the cast when the spinoff of NBC's beloved "The Office" premieres later this year. And this new show will be set in Ohio.
Yes, "The Office" is finally getting a spinoff, "The Paper," USA TODAY reports. NBC's streaming service Peacock has picked up the new mockumentary-style comedy from Greg Daniels (who adapted the British version of "The Office" for the U.S.) and Michael Koman ("Nathan for You"). And it's set in the same universe as the Dunder Mifflin crew.
So, what will "The Paper" be about? And when will it air? Here's what to know.
When will 'The Paper' premiere on Peacock?
Peacock announced May 12 that "The Paper" will premiere on the streaming service in September, USA TODAY reports.
'The Paper' will be set in Toledo, Ohio
Toledo, Ohio is the new Scranton, Pennsylvania in "The Paper," which focuses on the floundering newsroom of local paper The Truth Teller, according to a news release.
"The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters," Peacock said May 7, as reported by USA TODAY.
Is the Toledo Truth Teller a real newspaper?
Film Toledo shared that it helped "The Paper" production team source authentic memorabilia, brands and stories to make the show more authentic and accurate, according to WTOL.
The show follows the resurrection of a newspaper named the Toledo Truth Teller, but there's no indication that is or was a real publication in the Glass City.
'Welcome to Flatch' spotlights fictional Ohio town
'The Office' spinoff cast 'The Paper' sees one actor reprising role
Original "The Office" cast member Oscar Nunez is reprising his role in the new series, which also stars Domnhall Gleeson ("About Time," General Hux in the Star Wars sequel trilogy) and Sabrina Impacciatore ("The White Lotus).
USA TODAY reports that Peacock announced "The Paper" premiere at its annual upfront presentation in New York, where Gleeson, Nunez and Impacciatore debuted a clip of the series which Gleeson described as being about “underdog characters that are banding together to keep journalism alive.”
'The Office' launches careers of Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Mindy Kaling
"The Office," which launched the careers of Steve Carell, John Krasinski and Mindy Kaling, concluded its nine-season NBC run in 2013. It slowly blossomed into a major hit, especially on streaming. In 2020, "The Office" was the most-streamed show, according to Nielsen, with more than 57 billion minutes viewed.
