At least three tornadoes touched down Sunday night in Butler and Warren counties as severe storms struck the region, National Weather Service officials confirmed.
All three tornadoes were determined to be EF-0 tornadoes, which have wind speeds between 65 to 85 mph. They can cause 'minor' damage, such as breaking branches off trees, blowing shingles off roofs and toppling shallow rooted trees.
One of the tornadoes touched down in Butler County north of New Miami, near Hamilton Eaton Road, moving across seven miles in 10 minutes.
It caused damage to several mobile homes, some with substantial roof and siding damage. At least two homes were moved from their foundation but still standing. There were also numerous trees either uprooted or with the tops snapped in that area.
Estimated wind damage was between 75 to 80 mph at the start around 8:40 p.m.
The tornado continued along Trenton Road and Hawkins Road, damaging more trees. From there it crossed Wayne Madison Road, snapping power poles. It then moved across the Great Miami River and damaged several homes in a subdivision just east of Hamilton Middletown Road.
A second tornado touched down in Warren County near Corwin. Officials have yet to release the survey of this tornado as of Monday evening.
A third tornado touched down in Butler County near West Chester and continued east across Warren County to just west of Morrow. That tornado traveled roughly 12 miles in 14 minutes, peaking at 85 mph.
It developed near the intersection of Tylersville Road and Lady Anne Drive, where some trees were downed and minor house damage occurred. From here, the tornado traveled east across Interstate 75, causing sporadic tree damage before moving across VOA Park. In the park, an outbuilding was toppled and several soccer goals were scattered throughout the grounds.
The tornado then crossed Butler-Warren Road and entered Warren County between Tyler Court and Clover Drive. From here, the tornado traveled almost due east and affected numerous subdivisions along a narrow path through the central part of Mason. The tornado crossed I-71, near the Kings Mills exit, and caused a few trailers to overturn at the Camp Cedar RV Resort. As the tornado continued east, it downed numerous trees along Kings Mills Road and through the town of Kings Mills.
It then crossed the Little Miami River and continued to cause sporadic tree and mainly minor house damage in a narrow path across the subdivisions on both sides of State Route 48.
