What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?

We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Talent restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:

Infrared

Infrared Cameras

Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.

Moisture

Moisture Meters

We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.

Air Movers

Air Movers

This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.

Generators

Ozone Generators

These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.

Xtractor

Xtreme Xtractor

This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.

Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About

Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Talent, OR, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:

Clean Water Damage

Clean Water Damage

Clean

This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.

Gray Water Damage

Gray Water Damage

Gray-Water

Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.

Black Water Damage

Black Water Damage

Black-Water

The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.

If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:

Stop the Source of Water
  • Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
  • Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
  • Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.

Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Talent, OR

Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.

We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.

After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.

Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.

The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.

  • Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
  • Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
  • Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
  • Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

The IPL turns 18 this year, further solidifying its status as a highly valuable and influential tournament in global sports. With new captains, rising stars, and the league's top teams poised for exciting battles, the season promises to be captivating. Key players like Kohli, Dhoni, and Sharma continue to headline a much-anticipated season.

The writer is former team director, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and is CEO, Prime Volleyball League

In its 18th year, IPL, which kicks off today, has much to offer in terms of talent.

IPL is finally an adult. This year will mark the 18th edition of a tournament that radically changed the sporting landscape of the country, no, actually the entire cricket world, and caused significant ripples in the global sporting ecosystem.

Today valued at around $12 bn, with the last franchise transaction valuing Gujarat Titans at around $940 mn, the league is by far and away the most valuable sporting property in the country and, incredibly, in the top 10 globally, given that a season lasts less than two months, compared to the 40 weeks of Premier League or seven-to-eight month NBA season.

Today, like the Superbowl in the US, IPL is the time to air new campaigns, as one of the only remaining properties that ensures appointment viewing, and the new campaigns featuring a variety of cricketers and A-list film stars are already viral on social media.

It's instructive to see players from the first edition who played all seasons and are still active. Not a single international player has lasted, but a few Indians are still around. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and M S Dhoni, the most successful individual batter ever with a pair of captains with 10 titles between them. The others are Ishant Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, veteran keeper Wriddhiman Saha, and Ajinkya Rahane, the Mumbai kid who flourished in Rajasthan and Chennai before finding himself as the unlikely captain of the reigning IPL champions.

Non-cricket buffs looking at the traditional group photo before the start of the tournament might struggle to recognise a few faces.

Captaincy is a good place to start. Non-cricket buffs looking at the traditional group photo before the start of the tournament might struggle to recognise a few faces. Rajat Patidar is now at the helm of the Bengaluru franchise, Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead in yellow at Chennai, and Rahane will be the man at the helm for Shahrukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders.

And while Dhoni is making his second attempt to groom a successor after the first, with Jadeja, went spectacularly wrong, Patidar is there as an acceptable Indian face to take the monkey of not winning yet off Kohli's back. And after Kolkata paid ₹23.75 cr to retain Venkatesh Iyer, a decent player but with just about 9 T20 internationals under his belt, the last in 2022, their management group decided that to add the burden of captaincy on top that huge price tag would be too much for the young player. So, Rahane, a seasoned international cricketer who might not have otherwise always been an automatic first XI player, got the nod.

Mumbai, as always, have a different issue. In their star-studded line-up, they have India's test and ODI captain, India's T20 captain, and India's backup test captain. And none of them are captaining! Hardik Pandya will lead a side that also features Rohit, Surya Kumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah.

There are also a few other former skippers with new franchises. Shreyas Iyer, despite leading KKR to the IPL title after 10 years, found himself surplus to requirements when KKR made their retention list. And is now going to lead the Punjab franchise where he is united with former coach Ricky Ponting, the two who led Delhi to the IPL finals in 2020. And Rishabh Pant, whose injury saw Iyer take the hot seat in Delhi, will now be leading the charge at Lucknow. The only international captain this year is Australian Pat Cummins, who led his team to the finals last year.

And what about the teams? The truth is that after 17 seasons, most IPL franchises do a very decent job of picking franchise players. And while Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai look early favourites, none of the teams looks weak on paper.

Like every blockbuster, and IPL always delivers one, every year has a few key storylines. Will Hardik and Sharma come together and finally deliver redemption to Mumbai? Will Dhoni, still battling on at 43, manage to say goodbye with that elusive 6th crown? Will Iyer, smarting from being ignored during retention for Kolkata, make sure his new franchise Punjab pays them back in the same coin? And, an oldie but goldie, will Kohli finally win an IPL title, the only crown that has eluded him in an otherwise glittering career?

As always, the biggest stories of IPL are always the new stars, and IPL has consistently managed to find new players, domestic and international, who light up a season. Last year, it was the frightening opening combination of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma at Hyderabad, Phil Salt and Jake Faser-McGurk's plundering at the top, Mayank Yadav's 150 km/hr thunderbolts for Lucknow, and Nitish Kumar Reddy's emergence as an India level all-rounder.

This year's new crop includes South African keeper Ryan Rickleton, Australian star Joss Inglis and England all-rounder Jacob Bethell. And Rasikh Dar, Anshul Kamboj, Naman Dhir and Angkrish Raghuvanshi are among the uncapped Indians who attracted a serious amount of investment during the last auction.

Also in the mix is 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a batting prodigy for whom Rajasthan paid just over ₹1 cr, who was born days before the start of the 2011 IPL season.

Truly, the league has come of age.

Simon Cowell draws a line when it comes to what he’ll do for money.

The “America’s Got Talent” judge reflected on one of his most bizarre fan interactions, which quickly turned into a lucrative business proposition.

During an appearance on the “How To Fail” podcast on Wednesday, the notoriously tough talent judge claimed fans often ask him to be hard on them.

“People used to ask me to be rude to them,” he said. “I mean, literally they would come up and say you know, particularly in America, [asking], ‘Will you be rude to me?’ and I’m like ‘No.’”

“Then one time — it’s a true story — I was in a restaurant and this guy comes up to me and he said, ‘You know I love your show. Would you take a picture?’” Cowell recounted.

After agreeing to the photo, the man then presented Cowell with a massive, albeit unsettling offer.

“‘This is my wife. Nice to meet you. Um, would you judge us having sex?’” the man asked. Cowell responded, “I’m like ‘Are you winding me up?’”

The man then offered Cowell $150,000 to critique him and his wife doing the deed.

“I thought, ‘Do I? No, I just can’t do it,’” Cowell said, admitting that he did briefly consider it.

The British TV personality is best known for his role as a judge on several highly successful television talent competition shows like “Pop Idol”, “American Idol,” “The X Factor,” “Britain’s Got Talent,” and “America’s Got Talent.” Cowell, 65, has been on the latter series since 2016. He often stands out from other judges for his blunt and critical feedback.

Cowell is also known for his ability to spot, nurture, and manage musical talent through his company, Syco Entertainment. He is credited with discovering and/or managing artists and groups like One Direction, Little Mix, Leona Lewis, Susan Boyle, and Westlife.

Channel 4 has today announced the launch of two Nations and Regions initiatives to strengthen commissioning talent and help production companies maximise their potential.

The schemes – the Junior Commissioning Editor Programme and Business Boost – are run by Channel 4’s development and training programme 4SKills and form key parts of the broadcaster’s ongoing strategy to champion creativity, inclusion, and opportunity throughout the UK’s Nations and Regions.

The Junior Commissioning Editor Programme is a strategic, new initiative designed to develop the next generation of commissioning talent outside of London. The Business Boost scheme has been bolstered and overhauled to provide practical, bespoke training for leaders of N&R based production companies and help enhance their business skills and acumen.

Sinead Rocks, Channel 4’s Managing Director, Nations and Regions, said: “The Junior Commissioning Editor Programme is a strategic and meaningful investment in regional creative leadership. It not only helps us nurture and broaden the range of voices shaping our content but, coupled with our Business Boost programme, it will help build long-term resilience in the UK’s production ecosystem outside of London.”

Funded and led by Channel 4’s training and development arm, 4Skills, the Junior Commissioning Editor Programme offers producer level professionals the chance to take the next step in their editorial careers. Over the course of up to 18 months, trainees will be fully embedded within Channel 4’s Commissioning teams, gaining hands-on experience in content development, editorial decision-making, and production oversight.

Each participant will be mentored by a Senior Commissioning Editor, providing valuable insight into the commissioning process and the broadcaster’s editorial vision.

And 4Skills’ Business Boost scheme will launch in June and has been reconfigured to offer bespoke training programmes to improve leadership and business skills among N&R-based independent production companies.

It will offer two key programmes, the Indie Business Builder designed to support early-stage indies and the Indie Scale Up Programme which will focus on established businesses poised for growth. Across both programmes, 4Skills expects to support around 20 indies in total.

Emma Hardy, Channel 4’s Director of Commissioning Operations, said: "Commissioning Editors play a vital role in shaping the content we offer to audiences, so it's essential that these key decision-makers come from a diverse range of backgrounds, both in terms of who they are and where they're from."

“And the Business Boost scheme will provide practical support and targeted training for indie leaders across the UK. By enhancing the business capabilities of creative leaders, this initiative aims to help companies maximise their potential, build resilience, and thrive in a competitive and rapidly evolving industry.”

The first three Junior Commissioning Editor roles are now open for application: two within Lifestyle (based in Glasgow and/or Leeds) and one within Factual Entertainment & Documentaries (based in Bristol). Up to three additional placements will be recruited bringing the total cohort to six junior commissioning editors.

The Junior Commissioning Editor Programme forms part of a wider 4Skills programme that reflects Channel 4’s ambition to transform access to careers in TV and enhance business sustainability across the independent sector.

Last year Channel 4 announced a range of measures to increase commissions from independent production companies in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, reinforcing its commitment to regional representation and industry growth. The initiative included £35 million, ringfenced to support Nations-based producers, strengthening their role in shaping UK television content.

The strategy, launched in October, focuses on three key areas—skills, content, and people—to better serve audiences across the country. Additionally, under its new 10-year licence, Channel 4 will raise its main channel content spend in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales from 9% to 12% by 2028, surpassing Ofcom’s 2030 quota requirement. To achieve this, £10 million will be allocated to Nations-based producers in 2026, increasing to £15 million in 2027.

Channel 4 is also strengthening its commissioning strategy and has appointed lead commissioning editors for each Nation, ensuring deeper engagement with key suppliers in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales. This approach is designed to foster stronger creative partnerships and collaboration.
