What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?

We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Beaumont restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:

Infrared

Infrared Cameras

Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.

Moisture

Moisture Meters

We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.

Air Movers

Air Movers

This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.

Generators

Ozone Generators

These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.

Xtractor

Xtreme Xtractor

This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.

Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About

Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Beaumont, TX, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:

Clean Water Damage

Clean Water Damage

Clean

This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.

Gray Water Damage

Gray Water Damage

Gray-Water

Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.

Black Water Damage

Black Water Damage

Black-Water

The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.

If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:

Stop the Source of Water
  • Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
  • Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
  • Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.

Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Beaumont, TX

Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.

We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.

After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.

Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.

The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.

  • Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
  • Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
  • Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
  • Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

BEAUMONT, Texas — The Yellow Rose Meat Market has opened its fourth location in Southeast Texas, expanding into Beaumont after first launching in Winnie.

Tanner Bass, owner of the Yellow Rose, attributes the success of his business to perseverance and opportunity.

“When one door shuts, other doors will open. You just gotta look for them,” he said.

Bass told 12News that the business grew out of an unexpected setback.

“Hurricane Harvey hit, and I had a roofing business, and I was in that and the Lord shut that door very abruptly when all of my equipment got damaged and ruined. So, I went to my family's ranch and took about a year and a half break, and I fell back in love with ranching and with cattle. So, that passion built me back up and say, ‘Hey, man, we gotta get back up. We start another business," he said.

In just four years, the business has expanded with locations in Bridge City, Lumberton, and now Beaumont.

“We just opened Beaumont location, where I'm standing now, less than three weeks ago,” Bass said.

Bass believes the company’s success stems from its unique offerings.

“The array of products that we have, the love and the time that we put into our products, I believe that people can definitely feel that, and they definitely taste it,” he said.

Some of the more distinctive items include hog head cheese, frog legs, and rabbit.

“Hog head cheese is a strange thing. And it's actually made out of the snoot in the in the head of the hog. We also have frog legs there. We've got rabbit, a lot of people don’t have rabbit,” Bass said.

The market also features a weekly special where customers can buy a package deal for under $100. If customers aren’t satisfied with their purchase, Bass stands by his products.

“All you've got to do is let us know we will give you a refund,” he said.

Bass is confident in the store’s wide appeal.

“We have something for every taste bud,” he said.

The Beaumont location, at 418 Dowlen Road, is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Bass also hinted at another expansion coming soon.

The Beaumont Mural Festival this weekend features global artists showcasing murals inspired by the city's history, with food, music, and activities for all.

BEAUMONT, Texas — The Beaumont Mural Festival kicks off this weekend, drawing artists from around the world to paint the city and showcase its rich history.

The annual event, which has become a major attraction, invites community members to watch artists complete their murals while enjoying live music, food vendors, and activities.

"Now that the art and just like people from all over the world are coming here to paint, and trying to get in. It's kind of created a hub in the art community," said Floyd Mendoza, a Houston-based artist known as Mendoza Creates.

Mendoza, who painted a mural during last year’s festival, said the event has become a milestone for artists.

"This is kind of something you put on your belt, it is kind of a honor to have," he said.

Austin-based artist Samara Barks, known as Mixed Hues, is among nearly 40 artists participating this year.

"I've been wanting to be a part of this festival since it started cause a lot of my friends have been in it, and some of the like best muralist that I follow are in this. So, it's kind of an honor to be invited to be a part of this festival this year," Barks said.

Her work focuses on highlighting people of color in underrepresented spaces, including the Ishak tribe, also known as the Creole Indians, who lived along the Neches River for thousands of years.

The Ishak Nation still has members in towns like Orange, Liberty and Jefferson counties.

"A lot of my art focuses on people of color, specifically Black people in places we're not seen. So, learning about the Ishak tribe that stretches from Louisiana down to sell Central Texas along the Neches River they settled here 2000 years before colonization," she said.

Barks found limited historical imagery of the tribe and incorporated themes of cultural preservation in her work.

"There was not a lot of visual imagery that I was finding about them to do the piece. So, I thought it was interesting to have an elder passing down the tradition and culture to the youth for the next generation," she said.

John Beaver, tourism director for the Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau, encouraged the public to attend the free festival.

"Tomorrow the gates are going to open at 10 o'clock come down to Main Street near the Civic Center we're gonna have food vendors there's gonna be arts and crafts and kids area, there'll be music. And then inside the Civic Center their painting, outside of the Civic Center they're painting," Beaver said.

The festival has also gained international attention, bringing artists from across the globe.

"A lot of them are from all over the world, some Germany, another one from Spain, in Mexico so that should tell you guys that yeah the level of talent that's here is very special," Mendoza said.

The Beaumont Mural Festival runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Beaumont Civic Center.

Code enforcement records show that the building was tagged on Thursday, February 20. 2025.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A downtown building owned by Beaumont developer Tom Flanagan has been tagged due to property maintenance issues.

The Petroleum Tower at 550 Fannin St in downtown Beaumont has been "orange tagged" due to property maintenance issues, Kevin McGhee, a City of Beaumont spokesperson confirmed.

Code enforcement records show that the building was tagged on Thursday, February 20. 2025.

A person who works in the building told 12News that there is water leaking inside the elevators of the building.

"They did not communicate with us in advance," Flanagan said. "They came yesterday and inspected the building, and would not tell us that day anything about it."

Flanagan stated that city officials informed him the following day that the orange tag was due to several minor infractions, including an extension cord in the basement, fire extinguishers in need of updated tags, and a fire corridor stairwell door left open.

"Today they told us they had minor infractions including an extension cord in the basement, a couple of fire extinguishers that need a new tag, a fire corridor stairwell that had a door open and a few other minor things, and we told them we would work to get this resolved," Flanagan explained. "They said they would give us time to do that."

Despite the orange tag, Flanagan emphasized that the building remains in good condition and is operating normally. He also noted that the property recently experienced a frozen water pipe that led to a leak, but repairs are currently underway. According to Flanagan, the city was informed of the issue prior to the inspection.

"We are one of a few buildings that had a frozen water pipe that caused a leak. Repairs are under way for this. The city was told this yesterday," he said.

Flanagan remains optimistic about resolving the issues flagged by the city and expressed confidence in the building’s management and tenants. "The building is almost full of good tenants, and we look forward to resolving any issues," he said

Credit: 12News

Flanagan owns several buildings in downtown Beaumont, including the Gilbert Building which burned in June 2024.

In January the city voted to extend the deadline for Flanagan to make repairs so that the Gilbert Building can become structurally sound.

Flanagan has until April 23, 2025 to allow time to have an engineering report completed. After receiving the report, they will re-address the issue.

They decided to give longer than 30 days extension because he said it would not be ready within 30 days. He said he could not give an estimate until he gets an engineering report in March.

In addition to the tag on the Century Tower building there are at least six other Flanagan-owned buildings downtown with open property maintenance cases or demolition cases on them. There are 10 maintenance and a demolition case among the six buildings.

Flanagan is being investigated by authorities in connection to orchestrating three separate fires on the night of June 6, 2024 including the Gilbert Building fire.

Flanagan, who owns several buildings in downtown Beaumont, denies any involvement in the fire that destroyed the Gilbert Building, which he has owned since 2013.

“Let me be unequivocal – I was not involved, nor am I aware of any other person or people who may have been involved in the fire”, Flanagan said in a statement at the time.
