What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?

We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Green Bay restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:

Infrared

Infrared Cameras

Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.

Moisture

Moisture Meters

We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.

Air Movers

Air Movers

This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.

Generators

Ozone Generators

These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.

Xtractor

Xtreme Xtractor

This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.

Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About

Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Green Bay, WI, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:

Clean Water Damage

Clean Water Damage

Clean

This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.

Gray Water Damage

Gray Water Damage

Gray-Water

Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.

Black Water Damage

Black Water Damage

Black-Water

The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.

If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:

Stop the Source of Water
  • Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
  • Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
  • Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.

Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Green Bay, WI

Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.

We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.

After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.

Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.

The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.

  • Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
  • Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
  • Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
  • Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

Cleveland Browns rookie minicamp began Friday, giving the team's rookies and potential undrafted free agent signings the opportunity to train with each other and Browns coaches for the first time.

Michigan defensive lineman Mason Graham was the Browns' first selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, but it's fifth-round quarterback Shedeur Sanders that has garnered most of the attention from media and fans. Graham told members of the media Friday that he had the chance to meet Sanders a few days ago.

"He seems like a good dude and [the conversation] was all about ball," Graham said. "I want to play with guys that are like-minded."

Graham, the No. 5 overall pick, also added that it doesn't matter to him that Sanders is receiving most of the media attention.

"I come and play football," Graham said. "If the media's on me, then they're on me. If the media's not, then [they're] not. I'm just going to do my job at the end of the day."

Graham was a dominant force on the University of Michigan defensive line. In three years with the Wolverines, the 6-foot-3, 320-pounder combined to log 108 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and nine sacks. He was also a big contributor on Michigan's National Championship-winning team in 2023.

Paired alongside Myles Garrett, Graham will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact as a rookie. The Browns could have one of the most fearsome defensive lines in the league, but they'll need the team's offense, with Sanders potentially at the helm, to step up in order to get some wins.

Over a dozen nurses at the same maternity center in Wisconsin are getting ready to welcome their own little bundles of joy!

In a recent press release, HSHS St. Vincent Hospital’s Women and Infants Center in Green Bay announced that 14 nurses on their team are currently expecting.

The medical center shared the news just ahead of Mother’s Day and during National Nurses Week, which runs from May 6 to May 12.

"This is an incredible full-circle moment for many of our nurses, some of which are about to become first-time moms themselves,” said Amy Bardon, director of the center, in the release.

“Each of these women were already baby experts in their own rights,” she continued, adding that for some, their knowledge is “about to further deepen.”

“I am so excited for each of our nurses and the journey they are embarking on, and I hope they have a special Nurses Week and Mother’s Day,” she said.

Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

Bardon also noted that the moms-to-be — who are all registered nurses, as well as health “educators” and “advocates” — have been receiving their prenatal care and checkups from friends and colleagues right there at St. Vincent.

“When our expecting nurses are ready to welcome their little ones into the world, they’ll be cared for by their friends and colleagues here at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital, and they find comfort in that,” she said.

“But even before labor, these women have already built some really unique bonds with their colleagues, and I love that each of them has the chance to go through this special moment with each other.”

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Students at UW-Green Bay are speaking out about what they say are hefty online course fees.

They’re frustrated that it costs more to take an online class versus an in-person class, especially if the class is only offered online.

“It definitely adds up and took a big chunk of change out of my wallet,” UWGB junior John Reinke said.

Reinke said he’s paid an extra $300 in fees for online courses. At UWGB, it costs $348 per credit, plus $25 extra per credit for an online class.

This frustrated Reinke and prompted him to start a petition calling for the elimination of online course fees.

“We’re already paying for the tuition itself, and a lot of the same programs that they’re using are the same ones that in-person students use already. It just doesn’t make sense to me,” Reinke said.

So far, Reinke’s Change.org petition has garnered 664 signatures, with a goal of 750. He plans to continue building the petition over the summer and eventually forward it to UWGB staff.

As a psychology student, Reinke said some of his required classes are offered exclusively online, leaving him with no choice but to take on the more expensive, digital learning format.

“The technology we need to be able to offer the online class — there is an expense to that, for sure. It’s different to teach an online class, and we want to make sure the online classes we’re teaching are as excellent as the classes that we teach here in person,” UWGB Chancellor Mike Alexander said.

The fee — called a “legacy fee” — was put in place in the 1990s when online classes were a new concept. Alexander admits legacy fees are an outdated concept and said UWGB is working with the Universities of Wisconsin to either end the fee or offer alternative in-person options.

“I think, though, our students have been right to call out the issue,” Alexander said. “Yes, of course we’d like to offer them all both in-person and online. We just don’t have the resources to do that.”

Alexander wants to remind students that UWGB is the second most affordable in the UW system. Students don’t expect online fees to go away altogether, but hope to at least see more in-person choices.

“Talking just to my roommates this morning, we’re all living on campus, but over the past year and a half, my specific one roommate has had to take all online classes. Like, there’s been none available for in-person,” UWGB junior Jasmine Puls said.

Alexander said many other UW universities also charge extra for online courses.

Green Bay Diocese has seen rise in vocations, and they hope Pope Leo continues that trend

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Deacon Nicholas Stellpflug from Combined Locks was in the piazza Thursday as white smoke rose above St. Peter’s Square, indicating a new pope had been elected.

The introduction of Pope Leo XIV came as Stellpflug prepares to return to Wisconsin for his own ordination mass in June, following four years of studying in Rome.

“Really, the moment that was so special is when the curtains opened for the first time, and hearing this announcement with great joy to us. ‘Habemus Papam’ — we have a Pope — that’s when the crowd erupts,” Stellpflug said. “It’s also a little bit hard to hear the name too, and a couple of us that heard it was Cardinal Prevost, which was also special for us because he celebrated our Thanksgiving mass this past year.”

Pope Leo’s Midwest ties, according to Stellpflug, are witness to how God works.

“Seeing him as a guy who grew up in the Midwest, born on the south side of Chicago, and now is the Holy Father. You see the story that God weaves in his life, through all these years, that’s led him to this place — and none of those moments are insignificant. Just in the same way for each of us, whatever God is going to call us to do with our life, there’s nothing that’s insignificant in that story,” added Stellpflug.

Right now, the Green Bay Catholic Diocese has two dozen men in various stages of vocation to the priesthood. That number is nearly double what it was just seven years ago.

While Catholics believe men are called to serve, having a Holy Father from the United States with Midwest ties could be a sign to some to answer their own call.

According to Fr. Mark Mleziva, vocation director for the Green Bay Catholic Diocese, “If the Lord can call a pope from the Midwest, perhaps he might call someone from here to hear the call to the priesthood and say yes to it. So, that’s maybe the biggest sense of joy to come from, ‘Okay why not me?’ because the Lord is the one who makes the call.”

Less than 48 hours since Pope Leo XIV was elected, it’s too early to tell how his papacy will impact the recruitment of priests. But it will surely be interesting to keep an eye on.
