An early morning fire at Uncle Mike’s Highway Pub, which was in the middle of renovations, caused significant damage and left the building a total loss, according to the Kenosha Fire Department.
KENOSHA, Wis. — An early morning fire at the former Uncle Mike’s Highway Pub, which was in the middle of renovations, caused significant damage and left the building a total loss, according to the Kenosha Fire Department (KFD.)
Crews were dispatched around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, for a report of a structure fire at the former Kenosha bar located in the 6600 block of 120th Avenue.
After crews completed a primary search, they found the building seemed vacant and under renovation. The fire spread quickly, leading them to decide to pull everyone out and go with a defensive approach.

The fire was marked under control about an hour later, just after 4 a.m., with no firefighter injuries reported, according to the KFD.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Kenosha County Veterans Memorial Park Lake is the perfect atmosphere for non-motorized water activities or a leisure stroll through over 5 miles of maintained walking trails throughout the park.
Park development was funded in part by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the North American Wetlands Conservation Act grants, and the American Transmission Company Pollinator Program.

Development involved pavement of a1/2-mile parkway, installation of 38 parking stalls, storm water management features constructed, and signage installed
Further development of the park continued with installation of additional boat trailer parking, boat launch, boarding pier, multi-purpose pier, additional parking on Highway KD near the dam, and construction of a restroom facility in 2020.
A 3/4 mile trail was developed on the western parcel of the park.
Over 50 acres of prairie have been restored to date, with assistance from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Hunting permits to hunt at Kenosha County Veterans Memorial Park are available from the Parks Division. Permits will be issued only between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Public Works Office (19600 75th Street, Suite 122-1, Bristol, WI 53104).

Health Officer’s statement on measles in Kenosha County
Kenosha County Health Officer Lori Plahmer today released the following statement regarding
measles presence and prevention:
Kenosha County Public Health is aware of a recent situation in which an individual in the
community was believed to have measles. After being medically evaluated, it was determined
not to be measles.
At this time, there are no confirmed cases of measles in Kenosha County or the State of
Wisconsin.
We continue to closely monitor for measles in our community and urge the public to be up to
date on their MMR vaccine.
Kenosha County Public Health encourages Wisconsin residents to review their immunization
records or contact their health care provider to make sure they are up to date on the MMR
vaccine. Immunization status can be checked on the Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR)
