What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?

We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Montgomery restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:

Infrared

Infrared Cameras

Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.

Moisture

Moisture Meters

We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.

Air Movers

Air Movers

This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.

Generators

Ozone Generators

These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.

Xtractor

Xtreme Xtractor

This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.

Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About

Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Montgomery, AL, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:

Clean Water Damage

Clean Water Damage

Clean

This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.

Gray Water Damage

Gray Water Damage

Gray-Water

Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.

Black Water Damage

Black Water Damage

Black-Water

The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.

If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:

Stop the Source of Water
  • Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
  • Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
  • Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.

Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Montgomery, AL

Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.

We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.

After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.

Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.

The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.

  • Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
  • Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
  • Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
  • Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

The tree arrived at the Capitol Monday afternoon on the back of a flatbed 18-wheeler. The 38-foot tall tree, an Eastern Red Cedar from Bullock County, was escorted to Montgomery by Alabama Law Enforcement Agency state troopers.

The tree was hoisted into place at the top of the marble staircase overlooking downtown and historic Dexter Avenue. Throughout the week, it’s been decorated with more than 40,000 lights and a number of ornaments.

With an @ALEAprotects escort, the official state Christmas tree rolled in to the Alabama State Capitol this afternoon!I appreciate the ALDOT workers that got this 38-foot evergreen chopped, locked, evened, centered and hoisted into its stand — a job well done! #alpolitics pic.twitter.com/gk5H8aMlFf

The lighting ceremony is set to begin at 5:30 p.m., with musical performances by the 151st Army National Guard Band beginning at 5:00 p.m. Two Auburn A Capella groups, Malaudic and Full Auctave, will also be singing musical selections during the program.

The ceremony will finish with Ivey officially flipping the switch to illuminate the tree after students from Montgomery Christian Academy join her in a count down.

The governor will also be joined by the Very Reverend Kevin Bazzel of the Catholic Diocese of Birmingham, Garden Club of Alabama Chairman Suzy Shepherd, Major General Clair Gill, and Pastor Mark Bethea of First Baptist Church Montgomery.

Her office says another special guest from the North Pole, wearing a red suit, is also anticipated.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The team matchup is now set for the first FBS bowl game of the 2024 college football bowl season, which will be played in Montgomery.

The South Alabama Jaguars will take on the Western Michigan Broncos at Cramton Bowl in the inaugural IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl, formerly known as the Camellia Bowl.

The game will air nationally from ESPN at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, immediately after the 2024 Heisman Trophy presentation.

“Our team is excited to be selected to play in the IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl,” said South Alabama head coach Major Applewhite. “It is great to see their hard work rewarded with a postseason opportunity. I’m happy our seniors will get one more chance to put on a South Alabama uniform, and that our younger players will have more time to practice and develop this season.”

Both teams have a 6-6 record for the 2024 regular season, including the Jaguars’ 5-3 mark in the Sun Belt Conference and the Bronco’s 5-3 mark in the Mid-American Conference. This will be South Alabama’s third consecutive bowl game and its fifth bowl game ever. The Jags previously played in Montgomery during the inaugural Camellia Bowl at Cramton Bowl in 2014.

“The proximity of Montgomery, combined with the Saturday game day, provides a tremendous opportunity for South Alabama students and fans to travel and support the Jags,” said South Alabama Director of Athletics Dr. Joel Erdmann. “We look forward to the national spotlight being on the University of South Alabama as we compete in the first game of the 2024 FBS bowl season.”

This will mark the first game matchup between South Alabama and Western Michigan.

The bowl game is named for sponsor Integrated Solutions for Systems, an employee-owned and controlled small business that provides a wide range of engineering and management solutions to the United States Armed Forces and other government and commercial agencies.

Since its founding in 2008, IS4S has grown to more than 400 employee-owners and 15 office locations across the eastern United States, including its largest single-state presence in Alabama, where the company is headquartered.

Ticket information for the bowl game will be made available soon.

South Alabama will play Western Michigan in the IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl in Montgomery on Dec. 14, game officials announced Tuesday.

The Salute to Veterans Bowl (formerly the Camellia Bowl) kicks off at 8 p.m. at Cramton Bowl, immediately following the Heisman Trophy presentation on ESPN. The bowl pairing was announced Tuesday so that the participating teams would have 10 full days to prepare.

“Our team is excited to be selected to play in the IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl,” South Alabama coach Major Applewhite said. “It is great to see their hard work rewarded with a postseason opportunity. I’m happy our seniors will get one more chance to put on a South Alabama uniform, and that our younger players will have more time to practice and develop this season.

“Playing in the first FBS bowl game of the postseason in our home state is the ideal situation for our program. We are proud to represent the state of Alabama, and look forward to sharing this bowl game experience with our fans.”

South Alabama and Western Michigan — a member of the Mid-American Conference — are both 6-6 this season. The Jaguars and Broncos have never played in football.

One other bit of intrigue for the Salute to Veterans Bowl is the head-coaching matchup between Applewhite and Western Michigan’s Lance Taylor, a Mobile County native who played wide receiver at Alabama in the early 2000s. Applewhite and Taylor were both on Nick Saban’s first Crimson Tide staff in 2007, Applewhite as offensive coordinator, Taylor as a graduate assistant.

South Alabama is back in Montgomery for the first time in 10 years, having lost to Bowling Green 33-28 in the inaugural Camellia Bowl in 2014. The Jaguars are 1-3 all-time in bowls, with the lone win 59-10 over Eastern Michigan in last year’s 68 Ventures Bowl in Mobile.

“As we usher in a new era of Bowl Season in Montgomery, we are thrilled to have South Alabama and Western Michigan in the IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl,” executive director Johnny Williams said. “South Alabama played in our inaugural game in 2014 and helped us set the foundation for what our bowl has become. Western Michigan will be coming to Montgomery for the first time with Mobile native Lance Taylor as their head coach.”

The remainder of the 2024-25 bowl pairings will be announced Sunday.
