What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?

We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Worcester restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:

Infrared

Infrared Cameras

Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.

Moisture

Moisture Meters

We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.

Air Movers

Air Movers

This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.

Generators

Ozone Generators

These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.

Xtractor

Xtreme Xtractor

This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.

Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Worcester, MA, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:

Clean Water Damage

Clean Water Damage

Clean

This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.

Gray Water Damage

Gray Water Damage

Gray-Water

Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.

Black Water Damage

Black Water Damage

Black-Water

The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.

If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:

Stop the Source of Water
  • Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
  • Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
  • Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.

Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Worcester, MA

Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.

We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.

After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.

Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.

The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.

  • Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
  • Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
  • Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
  • Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

WORCESTER, MA — Russo's Italian Restaurant announced it will be closing its doors permanently.

The 65 Water St. establishment will close Oct. 26.

The restaurant opened in 2019. The space is across the street from Lock 50, a restaurant that was sold in October 2023 and closed four months later.

A common victualer license for a restaurant at that site was approved by the License Commission, according to The Worcester Telegram. The new establishment is set to be called Sham Restaurant.

It is with humble gratitude we announce that Russo Italian Restaurant will not be renewing our lease, and we will be closing the restaurant on October 26th after dinner service.

It’s a difficult and emotional decision to say goodbye, one that was not made easily. The restaurant was near and dear to my heart, proudly paying homage to the many generations of my family who lovingly enjoyed food, drink, family and tradition.

The recipes we used at Russo were passed down from my grandparents, and I was blessed and honored to share them with our guests.

Thanks to everyone who dined with us. I am incredibly grateful for your support and loyalty throughout the years. Thanks for trusting us with your celebrations, birthday parties, date nights, marriage proposals, engagement parties, celebrations of life, rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions, Sunday family dinners and more.

Thanks to our staff, past and present, for helping us to provide so many wonderful experiences to our countless guests over the years. Your loyalty and service will never be forgotten.

Grazie (Thank you)...Arrivederci (Goodbye)...and Amore a Tutti (Love to All)!

In September of 1983, Bill Feinberg bought his Minuteman Press franchise in Worcester, MA. While he was just 26 years-old at the time, Bill was ready to own his own business and put in the work that was needed to succeed. After all, business ownership was something that ran in the family.

Bill shares, “Before Minuteman Press, I was involved in a family business called Beaconway Fabrics that was sold. It was a family chain of fabric stores. When I was looking for employment, I heard about Minuteman Press through two of our business partners. One of them bought a Minuteman Press shop in Burlington, MA, and another bought a location in Chelmsford, MA. I ended up purchasing the shop in Worcester that was only open for 9 months at the time. 41 years later, I am still just the second owner to have owned this location.” Bill’s shop is located at 122 Green Street in Worcester.

RVP Todd Golberg presented Bill and his team with his well-deserved Special Achievement Award in recognition of over 40 years in business. Reflecting on this accomplishment, Bill says, “40 years later, this award means I’ve established a reliable source of income, year in and year out. I did my ‘first million’ in 2000, and have been over the million mark ever since, year in and year out. The Worcester market is very consistent for me. This is a lucrative business and Minuteman Press has been good to me. I renewed my franchise agreement when it was up a few years ago and we just keep humming along with myself and my 3 team members."

Building the Business

Bill explains, “My path to success was not overnight. Where I was to where I am today is because of tenacity. I was always comfortable going out and selling myself. I followed the Minuteman Press system. I knocked on doors, made the phone calls, and hired an effective salesperson that I had for 8 years who was a real road warrior. Later on, I acquired new business off the Internet Marketing Program.”

He adds, “We’ve never lost any business because of mistakes. The only time we’ve lost clients is when companies have been sold or changed marketing teams/purchasing managers. We’ve also picked up new business that way as well, so it goes both ways. The key is to deliver on your promises, keep grinding, and be tenacious.”

Bill shares his top 5 products and services for Minuteman Press in Worcester:

“Running the business for 41 years, I am very happy with Minuteman Press as my franchisor. I had the option of leaving the franchise after 25 years or renewing the agreement, and I renewed. We have the support, the freedom, the vendor contracts, and the FLEX software. I feel that Minuteman Press was always leading the charge in the industry and they proved that by getting on top of the digital printing trend right when it was going to happen. Of course, it did, and Minuteman Press made sure we were ready for it.” -Bill Feinberg, Owner, Minuteman Press, Worcester, MA

Advice for Others

Bill offers this piece of advice for others, sharing, “I pride my shop on attention to detail. We virtually never have any jobs printed wrong. A lot of details go into getting the correct product out the door so we are very detail-oriented. I believe in quality assurance, never missing deadlines, and providing customer quotes in a really fast timeframe. We do same-day quotes and follow up with customers so that we are always first to get back to them on pricing. While they are waiting for others, they’ll see how fast we can be, and if we are fast with their quotes, we can be fast with their jobs.”

In Bill’s own words from earlier , the business is “humming along” indeed… Congratulations!

The sounds of the season will ring in Central Massachusetts this December as Music Worcester presents three different programs.

Mark Allen Wood, Patch Mayor

The sounds of the season will ring in Central Massachusetts this December as Music Worcester presents three different programs of holiday music. On Friday, December 6th, the Worcester Chamber Music Society plays Bach’s Christmas Cantatas at the First Unitarian Church in Worcester; Saturday December 7th, the Worcester Chorus performs Handel’s Messiah in Mechanics Hall; and Sunday December 22nd the Worcester Chorus Women’s Ensemble performs their annual Holiday Concert at Trinity Lutheran Church. Tickets are on sale at musicworcester.org.

“We’re celebrating Christmas THREE ways this year,” exclaimed Chris Shepard, the Director of the Worcester Chorus, and Artistic Director of THE COMPLETE BACH (TCB), Music Worcester’s 11-year celebration of the works of J. S. Bach. “We have something for every vocal music lover this Christmas.”

On December 6th The Worcester Chamber Music Society (WCMS), one of the founding members of The Worcester Bach Collective, will perform three of Bach's solo Christmas cantatas as part of THE COMPLETE BACH. The Collective includes a wide range of musical organizations in Worcester and beyond that will collaborate with TCB over the next 11 years. “After all, you can’t present all 1000+ works by Bach without a lot of great partners,” said Shepard.WCMS will be joined by vocalists Kristen Watson, soprano; Krista River, alto; Matthew Anderson, tenor: and David McFerrin, baritone, for this concert. Shepard, who hosts three different audio series as part of TCB (Bach 101, Chat JSB and Unlocking Boch), will be presenting a pre-concert talk prior to the performance.

The following night, on December 7th, Shepard will be leading one of the area's most beloved annual traditions-the Worcester Chorus' presentation of Handel's Messiah. The chorus will be joined on stage by vocal soloists Soprano Jennifer Sgroe, Mezzo Soprano Kim Leeds, Tenor Kirk Bobkowski, and Bass-Baritone Jason Zacher, and the Worcester Festival Orchestra.Three days before Christmas on Dec.22nd, the Women's Ensemble of the Worcester Chorus, directed by Worcester Chorus Associate Director Mark Mummert, will present a very different expression of Christmas choral music, Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols. “The piece perfectly combines ancient carol texts with Britten's tuneful, quirky and always-accessible 20th century musical language,” said Shepard. In addition, this concert will also include a selection of Christmas classics and holiday sing-a-longs.

About Music WorcesterMusic Worcester, Inc., originally known as the Worcester County Music Association, for years ran the Worcester Music Festival. Current programs reflect the merger in the mid-1990s of the Festival with the International Artists Series and the MA Jazz Festival. Performances regularly include visiting orchestras and guest soloists, chamber music ensembles and ballet companies, world music and jazz groups, and choral masterworks. Multiple educational programs currently serve youth and families of greater Worcester: masterclasses by visiting artists, Tickets to Opportunity, Festival Singers, in-school residencies, and the Artist-in-Residency program. Integral to Music Worcester’s annual operations, The Worcester Chorus has been part of the organization since the very first concert season in 1858.
