What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?

We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Las Vegas restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:

Infrared

Infrared Cameras

Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.

Moisture

Moisture Meters

We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.

Air Movers

Air Movers

This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.

Generators

Ozone Generators

These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.

Xtractor

Xtreme Xtractor

This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.

Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About

Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Las Vegas, NV, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:

Clean Water Damage

Clean Water Damage

Clean

This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.

Gray Water Damage

Gray Water Damage

Gray-Water

Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.

Black Water Damage

Black Water Damage

Black-Water

The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.

If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:

Stop the Source of Water
  • Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
  • Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
  • Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.

Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Las Vegas, NV

Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.

We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.

After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.

Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.

The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.

  • Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
  • Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
  • Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
  • Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

This year’s When We Were Young Festival marked the third iteration of what has become affectionately dubbed by some as “emo Coachella” and was arguably the best year yet. Featuring an incredibly impressive lineup of iconic bands playing key albums in full, incredible food, interactive vendor installations, and more, When We Were Young proves that just like the genres it champions, it will stand the test of time.

WWWY, held at the expansive Las Vegas Festival Grounds, brought together yet another incredible lineup of iconic bands from the early 2000s and 2010s with a focus on the nostalgia factor. It wasn’t uncommon to hear fellow attendees talk about how certain albums that were being played were crucial to their adolescence and how surreal it felt to be hearing them in full in 2024.

Spanning 60-plus incredible bands across five stages, with the same lineup and set times each day, the only downside to WWWY was trying to figure out the best course of action to see as many bands as possible. But, the chaos and planning only added to the overall experience.

The festival kicked off bright and early, with The Paradox opening on the Ghost Stage at 10:40 a.m. Despite the early time, lines to get into the festival were already expansive and only grew as the morning continued. Electric sets from supergroup LS Dunes and MySpace royalty Millionaires early on in the day set the high-energy, nostalgic tone for the rest of the day.

The afternoon was filled with a number of standout sets. Neck Deep and Mayday Parade led countless pop-punk singalongs from their legendary albums, while Underoath brought an unforgettable performance of album They’re Only Chasing Safety in its entirety. Dashboard Confessional’s set on the Purple Stage, one of the largest stages at the festival, had some fans emotional as they performed classics such as “Vindicated” and “Stolen.” Even lesser-known acts held their own, drawing massive crowds and earning new fans along the way.

Aside from the music, the festival’s other experiences were just as amazing. Countless food and drink vendors offered a wide variety of options, including drinks from Beatbox and food from Shake Shack, Prince Street Pizza, Tacotarian, and more. Ghost Energy had an impressive activation lounge, as did Wynn Las Vegas. Creative photo opp installations were scattered throughout the festival, including the fest’s now-iconic pink carpet and countless emo-tinged inflatables. There was even a truck offering tattoos tailored to the festival’s performers and alternative culture with an impressively long line throughout the day.

One of the highlights of the day occurred early afternoon at the Ghost Stage, where Denver duo 3OH!3 performed their 2008 album WANT in full. Donning neon-yellow high-vis outfits, Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte’s stage presence was one to be reckoned with. They jumped around, engaged with the crowd, and teased a “DONTTRUSTME” snippet halfway through the set to give a taste of what was to come. They closed their set with the iconic single as thousands of attendees screamed back the iconic hook back at them.

In a similar vein, Cobra Starship’s showmanship is one to be rivaled. The band, playing their second show in 12 years, acted like not a second had gone by since their glory days. Coming out to a “Cobra Airlines” skit video in pilot and stewardess costumes, the band kicked off their set with the catchy “Nice Guys Finish Last.” Two songs in, frontman Gabe Saporta asked, “Wait, aren’t we supposed to be doing ¡Viva la Cobra!?,” prompting an outfit change into the legendary purple hoodies. Just when we thought the set couldn’t be topped, they brought out Patrick Stump for “Kiss My Sass,” much to the enjoyment of the crowd.

Other highlights of the day included Senses Fail’s performance of Still Searching, showing frontman Buddy Nielson’s impressive stage presence (including, but not limited to, throwing multiple inflatable sharks into the crowd for “Shark Attack”), The Maine and their unrivaled crowd connection, an emotional performance of The Greatest Generation by The Wonder Years, and Movements getting festival-goers deep in their feelings for a dusk performance of Feel Something. Chiodos was one of the most surprising sets, seeing Craig Owens perform with the group for the first time in eight years. To add to the fans’ excitement, he announced the band’s 20th anniversary tour during the set, sharing that the group will be touring on a stacked lineup with Hawthorne Heights, Emmure, and The Callous Daoboys.

The energy of the festival only increased as the sun set and the Las Vegas skyline lit up around the festival grounds, serving as a stunning backdrop for performances like Pierce The Veil playing Collide With The Sky, Jimmy Eat World’s hit-laden Bleed American set, and Dance Gavin Dance playing Mothership on the Verizon Stage.

One of the few bands that didn’t perform an album in full was Fall Out Boy, but, their set ended up being one of the most memorable of the festival. Performing what can best be described as their Eras Tour, their set was full of outfit changes that reflected each era of the band, enhanced with some of the most incredible stage production of the festival, maybe even of any recent show. Tracks from Folie à Deux were performed with the inflatable bears from the album cover, while the Save Rock and Roll era was elevated with an on-stage volcano and an impressive amount of pyrotechnics. Furthermore, they surprised fans with a special guest appearance from Wiz Khalifa for “See You Again,”a callback to their 2015 Boys of Zummer tour. Overall, their set was a captivating timeline of the beloved band’s rise from humble Chicago beginnings to becoming one of the largest rock bands in the world.

As some attendees scattered to other stages to see Nada Surf, Pretty Girls Make Graves, and Escape The Fate, a majority flocked to the Purple Stage to witness My Chemical Romance play what is arguably one of the most important emo albums, The Black Parade, in full. Many may remember the band’s triumphant return at the first iteration of When We Were Young, and the excitement for this set was just as palpable. Their production was minimalistic—a white backdrop surrounded the band, who were dressed in simplistic all-black outfits, providing a stark contrast. However, the stripped-back visuals allowed for the music itself to truly be at the forefront.

Although attendees knew what to expect from the album play through, hearing songs like “The End,” “Cancer,” and “Disenchanted” that hadn’t been played in over 15 years felt incredibly surreal. Furthermore, “Cancer” and “Mama” featured hauntingly beautiful new violin arrangements. The Black Parade is truly an album that still resonates with listeners 18 years after its release. Hearing songs that helped myself and many others during our darkest moments in our younger years live as adults in a much better place made the set feel like a celebration of music, life, and the collective community.

This year’s When We Were Young Festival was more than just a festival—It was a celebration of a musical era that continues to resonate, decades later. The fest truly captured the heart and soul of what makes this music so special and gave both artists and fans a chance to connect over their shared love for the songs that defined their lives and ours.

Needless to say, we can’t wait for what next year holds.

The Vegas Golden Knights (4-2-1) are back in action this afternoon (3 p.m. PT) as they take on the visiting Ottawa Senators (4-2-0) in the annual Nevada Day game.

The Golden Knights are coming off a commanding 6-1 victory against the Los Angeles Kings, a much-needed bounceback effort following a three-game losing skid (0-2-1) on the road.

Special teams were perfect, with the power play cashing in twice in the first period and the penalty kill taking care of all four shorthanded situations, including an impressive stand late in the second period.

Tomas Hertl had four points, and the defense took significant strides in cleaning up some of the mistakes that prevented Vegas from closing out wins in Florida.

The Golden Knights are undefeated on home ice this season and will look to extend that home winning streak to five games in the first half of a back-to-back set.

The Senators enter today’s game as winners of two straight after alternating wins and losses through their first four games. They were involved in an 8-7 barnburner against Los Angeles and most recently defeated Tampa Bay and Utah.

Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stützle lead the Senators in scoring with identical stat lines of three goals, five assists and eight points, while Drake Batherson (4-3—7) and Jake Sanderson (1-6—7) each have seven and Josh Norris has six (3-3—6).

Former Golden Knights forward Michael Amadio will make his return to Vegas after leaving via free agency in the offseason. Amadio has zero points through six games with his new club after signing a three-year deal over the summer, though he has skated on the top line in each of the last two contests.

The two clubs have performed similarly on special teams so far this season.

The Senators have been lethal on the power play, which is clicking at 40.9 percent after going 9-for-22. That’s good for second overall in the NHL behind only the undefeated Winnipeg Jets.

That being said, the Golden Knights are right there with them, as Vegas’ man-advantage is 7-for-19 (36.8 percent). That number increases to 45.5 percent on home ice, as Vegas has notched five goals on 11 opportunities, good for second overall (behind, ironically, Ottawa at 47.1 percent).

However, the Senators have only netted one power-play goal in five chances on the road (20 percent), good for 21st overall.

The numbers are comparable on the penalty kill as well, with Ottawa coming in tied for 15th (77.7 percent) and Vegas ranked 21st (76.5 percent). The Golden Knights are 15th at home (80 percent), while Ottawa is 15th (83.3 percent) on the road.

The Golden Knights need to continue to play solid defensively not just on the back end but as an 18-man unit in front of either Adin Hill or Ilya Samsonov, who started each of the last two games. The newly-reunited pairs were extremely effective, and Shea Theodore is expected to be back in the lineup today after serving as a late scratch due to illness.

The Golden Knights signed Theodore to a seven-year extension on Thursday, thus solidifying one of the most formidable blue lines in the NHL, as Theoedore joins Alex Pietrangelo and Noah Hanifin on long-term deals through at least 2026-27.

William Karlsson is expected to make his season debut Saturday against San Jose after sustaining an injury early in training camp. Getting him back in the lineup will be a massive boost for Vegas, even if it takes him some time to get up to speed.

Until then, the Golden Knights likely will roll with the same lineup that was so effective earlier this week.

The Golden Knights need to carry over their aggressive play as they look to collect two more points. They cannot sit back or take their foot off the gas with a lead, and they need to continue to steer pucks away from the crease, block shots, manage the puck and execute well on exits.

“We came off the road, we weren’t happy with how we finished some games,” head coach Bruce Cassidy said. “We had pockets where we certainly could have picked up points. Picked up one. Disappointed we didn’t finish games better in the third period. That was the point of emphasis after the second period during the intermission [against Los Angeles]. I thought we did a real good job starting and extending the lead. Didn’t finish the game as well as we’d like, but I think we can write that off to a bit of being ahead and, I think, feeling comfortable. You never want to be that way, but I think there was a bit of that.”

A concerted effort to limit and contain rush chances and make clean plays through the neutral zone will be imperative against a young and skilled Senators roster.

“Rushes hurt us the most of anything, so we’ve gotta clean that up,” Cassidy said. “Every day, we’re working on it, we’re showing video, we’re trying to build it in to practice. Some of it’s tough to replicate because teams will do different things off the rush, but at the end of the day, we gotta sort out quicker.”

One way to do that is to simplify one’s game, which has been part of the approach for Vegas’ third line with Alexander Holtz, Cole Schwindt and Brendan Brisson. Holtz finally got the monkey off his back with his first goal of the season against the Kings.

“Just trying to help the team out there every day, and it’s always nice to contribute with a goal,” he said. “I feel like that can build your own confidence a little bit, and you just keep going from there.”

Vegas is 3-2-1 all-time in Nevada Day matchups, including last year’s 4-3 overtime loss to Chicago.
