What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?
We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Vancouver restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:
Infrared Cameras
Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.
Moisture Meters
We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.
Air Movers
This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.
Ozone Generators
These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.
Xtreme Xtractor
This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.
Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About
Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Vancouver, WA, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:
Clean Water Damage
This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.
Gray Water Damage
Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.
Black Water Damage
The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.
If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:
- Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
- Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
- Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.
Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Vancouver, WA
Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.
We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.
After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.
Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.
The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.
- Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
- Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
- Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
- Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

Vancouver, Wash. – PeaceHealth and Providence are pleased to announce that they have entered into a definitive agreement that will result in PeaceHealth acquiring four Providence clinic sites located in Clark County. Pending the standard regulatory review processes, the clinics will transfer to PeaceHealth.
The four Providence Medical Group clinic sites employ approximately 100 staff, including physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, medical assistants, clinical care coordinators and patient service specialists. Providence employees of the clinics will be offered comparable positions with PeaceHealth. The only service not transferring to PeaceHealth is Providence Mill Plain Occupational Medicine. Providence will work with those employees to identify opportunities within their other clinics in the Portland metro area.
Across the four sites, services provided include primary care, walk-in care and outpatient rehabilitation services. Their names and locations are:
“We want current clinic patients to know that while the names of the clinics are changing, their care team who they know, and trust, remains the same,” shares Melissa Edwards, MD, Chief Medical Officer, PeaceHealth Medical Group.” Both PeaceHealth and Providence share a common mission and commitment to ensuring this acquisition is seamless and does not disrupt quality patient care.”
Providence does not operate any acute hospital facilities in Clark County, Washington, nor does it offer a wide range of specialty care services in the area. By transitioning these outpatient care sites to PeaceHealth, patients in Clark County will gain increased access to a full spectrum of primary, specialty and hospital care services closer to home, without having to travel into Oregon.
“Providence Medical Group is optimistic about this transition and the opportunity to enhance healthcare access to needed specialty and acute care without patients having to travel out of the area,“ said Ben LeBlanc, MD, CEO of Providence Medical Group. “Given PeaceHealth’s extensive specialty and acute care footprint in Clark County, we believe this acquisition will greatly benefit the community and provide enhanced continuity of care for current clinic patients.”
“Caring for all is at the heart of the PeaceHealth Mission,” adds Edwards. “This acquisition further signals a deep commitment to the communities we serve. We are grateful for this opportunity to welcome the talented care team of these clinics and further improve access and health outcomes in the region.”
The clinic acquisitions are expected to become final sometime in December 2024. At that time, the clinics will be renamed to reflect the PeaceHealth brand.

Vancouver, WA is a thriving city located in the state of Washington, just across the river from Portland, Oregon. Known for its beautiful landscapes, outdoor recreational opportunities, and vibrant community, Vancouver has become an attractive place to live for many people. So, what's up with the housing market in Vancouver, Washington?
It's kind of a mixed bag right now. Home prices have gone up a little bit over the last year, but it's not a clear win for buyers or sellers. It's weird – some things make it seem good for buyers, and some make it seem good for sellers. If you're thinking about buying or selling a house around here, you really need to know what's going on. It's important to understand the trends so you don't get caught off guard.
Current Vancouver WA Housing Market Trends
Home sales in Vancouver have been steady, though the year-over-year data shows variability. In August 2024, for instance, the median price for sold homes was around $472,000, reflecting a 4.6% decrease from the previous year, as reported by Redfin. Such trends indicate that while demand remains, sellers must be strategic in their pricing to attract buyers.
The housing market is notably competitive, with homes receiving an average of 3 offers and selling in just about 17 days. This aspect suggests that while buyers are actively searching for homes, they face challenges due to higher price points and limited inventory in some segments. According to a recent report from realtor.com, the market is seeing homes priced above the median list price of $560,000 trending slightly upwards, indicating persistent demand in certain areas.
The home prices in Vancouver have shown a varied pattern. The average home value currently hovers around $499,506, which is up by 2.1% year-over-year according to Zillow. This increase suggests that while prices are relatively stable, they are constantly influenced by factors such as interest rates and economic conditions.
However, the general trend reflects some cooling, as seen in reduced sales prices and fewer multiple-offer situations within certain neighborhoods. Specific areas are experiencing a more significant drop in time on the market, pointing towards both shifts in consumer expectations and the overall economic situation in the region. Certain neighborhoods remain prime locations for investment, as market enthusiasm continues in sectors still recovering from the economic impacts of previous years.
As for housing supply, Vancouver continues to face challenges. The inventory of homes for sale remains quite limited, contributing to ongoing competition among potential buyers. Reports indicate that in a typical month, the total number of homes listed oscillates but has shown a notable uptick in recent transactions, with about 1,631 homes available by August 2024 according to Rocket Homes.
Vancouver's market is often characterized by its steep demand relative to supply, which plays a crucial role in defining home prices. This aspect, combined with varying interest rates, makes it pivotal for buyers to be prepared for negotiations that reflect this competitive environment. Additionally, ongoing developments are expected, which might increase the housing supply, making the market more favorable over time for buyers seeking affordable options in desirable locations.
When evaluating market trends, it's crucial to understand that the Vancouver housing market is currently balancing on a scale influenced by both strong buyer interest and potential shifts towards stabilization.
Recent trends indicate:
In my experience, the current housing market trends in Vancouver reveal a strategic playing field for both buyers and sellers. The slight increases in prices alongside a competitive sales environment create a unique challenge. Buyers should remain vigilant but can take heart that more options may be on the horizon as new developments materialize.
Vancouver Housing Market Forecast 2024-2025
Looking ahead towards 2024 and 2025, the Vancouver WA housing market is expected to remain stable. Factors contributing to this forecast include:
The market is projected to maintain a positive outlook with slight fluctuations. While home prices may see minor shifts, the demand is likely to persist.
Key Predictions for 2024 and 2025:
Note: The housing market is influenced by multiple factors and is subject to change based on economic conditions.
Should You Invest in the Vancouver Real Estate Market?
The Vancouver real estate market can be an attractive investment opportunity for those looking for a stable and growing market. The city's strong economy and rental property market make it an attractive destination for investors. Here are some reasons why you should consider investing in Vancouver real estate:
Potential drawbacks:
One potential drawback to investing in the Vancouver real estate market is the high purchase prices and low inventory. This can make it difficult for investors to find properties that meet their investment criteria and may require them to be more flexible in their investment strategy. Additionally, the rising interest rates may increase the cost of borrowing for investors, which can impact their ability to finance their investments and reduce their overall returns.
Overall, the Vancouver real estate market offers many opportunities for investors looking to grow their portfolios. However, it is important to work with experienced professionals and to carefully evaluate each investment opportunity to ensure that it meets your investment goals and aligns with your risk tolerance.

A mysterious and pungent odor is troubling residents in parts of Southwest Washington and Northern Oregon, prompting calls for answers and raising health concerns.
The stench was first reported on Sept. 24, stretching from southern Kelso to Vancouver along Interstate 5, according to Facebook posts by the Cowlitz County Department of Emergency Management, which stated it didn’t have the resources to investigate further. As winds carried the odor, it was also detected in Portland, officials noted in a Sept. 25 post.
Locals are experiencing headaches and irritation of the eyes and throat, which may be linked to the odor, officials said.
NTSB Safety Alert: Rudder failure on Boeing 737s
“The smell is so strong it woke us up from sleep around midnight feeling nauseous,” one resident commented on social media. This sentiment has been echoed by many others who have taken to online platforms to share their experiences and seek solidarity.
The Tacoma News Tribune reported residents have described the smell as resembling natural gas, propane, burning garbage, burning rubber and ammonia, among other unpleasant scents. The variety of descriptions has added to the confusion and concern among the affected communities.
Authorities are collaborating with experts to identify the source but have yet to determine the cause. The health impacts have led to increased anxiety among residents, with many seeking medical advice and expressing frustration over the lack of clear information.
MyNorthwest News: Early autumn ushers in another ‘spider season’
“For those that have concerns about the odor, we can neither confirm nor deny at this time if it is harmful,” emergency management officials stated.
This statement has done little to alleviate the fears of the community, who are demanding more transparency and quicker action from the authorities.
Local businesses have also reported a decline in customers, as the smell has made outdoor activities unpleasant and deterred people from venturing out. Schools in the affected areas have issued advisories, urging parents to keep children indoors during recess and physical education classes until the situation is resolved.
Environmental groups have started to get involved, pushing for a thorough investigation and long-term solutions to prevent similar incidents in the future. They argue that the incident highlights the need for better monitoring and regulation of air quality in the region.
As the investigation continues, residents are advised to stay indoors as much as possible and report any new developments to local authorities.

Today, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) released the following statement regarding a ballot drop box being set on fire at the Fisher’s Landing Transit Center this morning:
“Early this morning, a ballot drop box was set on fire at the Fisher’s Landing Transit Center, resulting in the destruction of hundreds of ballots. I am incredibly thankful to the local first responders who quickly arrived on scene, put out the fire, and salvaged the ballots they could.
There is absolutely zero place in our democracy for political violence or interference against our fellow citizens, election workers, or voting infrastructure. I hope the perpetrator of this reprehensible act is quickly apprehended – and local and federal law enforcement have my full support in working to keep our democratic process safe and secure.
Our right to vote needs to be protected under all circumstances. We can’t yield to intimidation, and we must continue to stand up against unpatriotic acts such as this one. Your vote matters, so I encourage everyone who dropped off a ballot this weekend at the Fisher’s Landing Transit Center to get in touch with the Clark County Elections Office and request a replacement.
I am requesting an overnight law enforcement presence be posted at all ballot drop boxes in Clark County through Election Day. Southwest Washington cannot risk a single vote being lost to arson and political violence. I’ll continue to closely monitor this situation and share resources and updates with constituents who may have been affected.”
According to the Clark County Auditor, the drop box, located at 3510 SE 164th Ave., was last emptied Saturday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m.
You can check the status of your ballot here and request a replacement ballot at clark.wa.gov/elections/need-replacement-ballot. The Clark County Elections Office can also be reached at (564) 397-2345 or elections@clark.wa.gov.
Today’s incident comes after a suspicious device was found at a ballot drop box in downtown Vancouver earlier this month.
