Your Guide to Water Damage Restoration in Vancouver, WA
Water damage restoration is a key step in remediating damage to your home, both structurally and aesthetically. Damage from water doesn't just affect the walls, floors, and ceilings in your home. It can also cause deeper issues that, when untreated, can weaken your foundation significantly and lead to long-term instability.
As if that weren't enough, water damage can present health hazards to your friends, family, and pets. Mold and bacteria can grow in damp areas after water incidents, causing allergies, respiratory problems, and even visits to Highgate Senior Living Vancouver in Vancouver for examination. Ignoring water damage can also result in irreversible harm to your belongings, including furniture, electronics, and sentimental items, leading to financial loss and emotional distress. Professional water clean-up services can repair the damage to your property, help protect valuable assets, and re-establish your home or business as a safe, healthy environment for occupants.

What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?
We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Vancouver restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:
Infrared Cameras
Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.
Moisture Meters
We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.
Air Movers
This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.
Ozone Generators
These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.
Xtreme Xtractor
This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.
Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About
Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Vancouver, WA, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:
Clean Water Damage
This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.
Gray Water Damage
Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.
Black Water Damage
The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.
If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:
- Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
- Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
- Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.
Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Vancouver, WA
Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.
We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.
After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.
Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.
The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.
- Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
- Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
- Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
- Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

Today, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) released the following statement regarding a ballot drop box being set on fire at the Fisher’s Landing Transit Center this morning:
“Early this morning, a ballot drop box was set on fire at the Fisher’s Landing Transit Center, resulting in the destruction of hundreds of ballots. I am incredibly thankful to the local first responders who quickly arrived on scene, put out the fire, and salvaged the ballots they could.
There is absolutely zero place in our democracy for political violence or interference against our fellow citizens, election workers, or voting infrastructure. I hope the perpetrator of this reprehensible act is quickly apprehended – and local and federal law enforcement have my full support in working to keep our democratic process safe and secure.
Our right to vote needs to be protected under all circumstances. We can’t yield to intimidation, and we must continue to stand up against unpatriotic acts such as this one. Your vote matters, so I encourage everyone who dropped off a ballot this weekend at the Fisher’s Landing Transit Center to get in touch with the Clark County Elections Office and request a replacement.
I am requesting an overnight law enforcement presence be posted at all ballot drop boxes in Clark County through Election Day. Southwest Washington cannot risk a single vote being lost to arson and political violence. I’ll continue to closely monitor this situation and share resources and updates with constituents who may have been affected.”
According to the Clark County Auditor, the drop box, located at 3510 SE 164th Ave., was last emptied Saturday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m.
You can check the status of your ballot here and request a replacement ballot at clark.wa.gov/elections/need-replacement-ballot. The Clark County Elections Office can also be reached at (564) 397-2345 or elections@clark.wa.gov.
Today’s incident comes after a suspicious device was found at a ballot drop box in downtown Vancouver earlier this month.

Swifties looking for NW Washington lodging after last-minute hotel cancelations in Vancouver, B.C.

VANCOUVER, B.C. — As the popstar herself might say, this is one narrative that Taylor Swift fans would "very much like to be excluded from": Just days before three Eras Tour performances in Vancouver, B.C., many ticketholders are scrambling to find affordable lodging near the venue.
Swift is set to perform this Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Vancouver, B.C., at BC Place. Still, desperate stories of last-minute cancellations by rental hosts and booking agents are pouring into Facebook groups.
“It’s really stressful because it’s a lot of money,” said Mariellen Hubbard, a mother and Taylor Swift fan from Virginia.
Hubbard paid in full for her Vancouver hotel back in January through a small, lesser-known third-party booking site, where she found a hotel room she said "wasn’t quite as much money."
But when she called the hotel this week, she was told her reservation had been canceled.
"I'm like, 'No, no, I didn't cancel it,'" she said.
She said she did not cancel it and is not sure why it was suddenly canceled. With days to go before the show, the hotel told her they did not have any room for her.
Now, she is urging other Swifties to call and verify their reservations before getting there.
"I would have showed up on Thursday and had no hotel room if I hadn't called," said Hubbard.
As a result of the last-minute timing of cancelations like these, Hubbard and others are having to rebook elsewhere, at significantly higher rates, if they want a place to sleep after the concert.
“What I had to pay was a lot more than the exorbitant amount I’d already paid,” said Hubbard.
Even Pacific Northwest residents are having similar issues. Another mother from Portland, who did not want to be identified, told KING 5 over the phone that her Airbnb host canceled at the minute, citing “needed repairs on the unit,” with no further details.
Just last week, an Australian mother said her rental host informed her that her Vancouver, B.C. apartment needed repairs, despite her paying thousands upfront months ago and flying her family of four from Sydney.
"I called him out on it. I said, 'You know, I’m happy to stay in an apartment that’s undergoing repairs because I don’t have any other options.' But no," she said. "They can make that excuse and get away with it, right?"
The cancelations, in general, could also have something to do with B.C.'s new regulations that went into effect in May, which require that owners may only rent out their primary residence, a secondary suite or an accessory dwelling unit. This means hosts with multiple homes may not use them for short-term rentals, like Airbnb stays. The B.C. government is threatening to fine or take to court rental platforms that don’t provide proof of compliant listings.
Because last-minute rebookings near BC Place are highly inflated due to increased demand, many concertgoers are pivoting their plans instead and opting to drive back over the border into the northwesternmost communities of Washington just to rest their heads on the night of the show.
According to Hotels.com, there are only three available hotels in the western cities closest to the border. Hotel options improve once you get into Bellingham, but many hotels have only one or two rooms left, if any.
For those still looking for flights, be prepared to spend a pretty penny: a nonstop flight from Portland to Vancouver, for example, is currently priced at around $1,500.
Also, many Swifties are taking to social media to voice concerns about missing Swift's show due to possible long waits at the border. The Canada Border Services Agency says on its website that it is prepared for peak periods. However, KING 5’s inquiry into whether additional resources are being added this weekend has not yet been answered.
