What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?

We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Roseville restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:

Infrared

Infrared Cameras

Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.

Moisture

Moisture Meters

We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.

Air Movers

Air Movers

This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.

Generators

Ozone Generators

These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.

Xtractor

Xtreme Xtractor

This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.

Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About

Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Roseville, CA, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:

Clean Water Damage

Clean Water Damage

Clean

This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.

Gray Water Damage

Gray Water Damage

Gray-Water

Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.

Black Water Damage

Black Water Damage

Black-Water

The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.

If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:

Stop the Source of Water
  • Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
  • Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
  • Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.

Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Roseville, CA

Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.

We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.

After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.

Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.

The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.

  • Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
  • Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
  • Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
  • Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

ELVERTA, Calif. —

A 60-year-old Roseville woman says she was kicked out of her Lyft ride because the driver did not have enough charge in his electric vehicle.

It happened early Friday morning as Catherine Smith was trying to get home from Sacramento International Airport.

Smith said the driver made her leave the car near Base Line Road and Palladay Road in Placer County.

"He kept pointing at his screen saying, 'I need to charge. I need to charge.' That's all he said over and over and over again," said Smith.

The one-lane road was extremely dark when KCRA went to take video of it Wednesday night. It's in a rural part of the county with no street lights in sight.

"He pulls over, gets out of the car, opens the trunk, takes all my luggage out. I get out of the car, he gets in the car, turns around, takes off and looks at me and says, 'You can call another Lyft,'" said Smith.

Smith began panicking as she was just left stranded on the side of a dark road.

According to her Lyft ride history, she was picked up from Sacramento International Airport around 1 a.m. Friday.

Halfway through the drive — Smith said they had to take a detour because of construction.

"He kept saying, 'I need a charge. I need a charge.' And my brain just kept saying, 'He needs to recalibrate because we took the little detour so that he gets paid, right,'" said Smith.

Smith said the driver never explicitly told her that he meant he needed to charge his car to complete the drive. So, she was confused by his lack of communication every time he spoke to her.

"He never said 'No, ma'am. The car needs to be charged' at all," said Smith.

According to the ride history, the driver left Smith on the side of Base Line Road at 1:40 a.m.

"I was in the dark left there. I started crying because I didn't have any of my weapons from being on the plane and I felt so vulnerable," said Smith.

After Smith realized she was stranded she immediately reached out to Lyft. Lyft then alerted authorities and a Placer County Sheriff's deputy arrived within minutes. The deputy stayed with Smith until another Lyft driver arrived.

Lyft's safety department sent Smith a message regarding the incident.

"As a result of this report, we are reviewing this driver's account to determine whether they should continue on the Lyft platform," the message read.

Smith was also refunded the cost of her ride and was told she would not be paired with that driver ever again.

"I hope to get him off the road because he has no business driving. He couldn't communicate clearly. He should have said, ma'am, I need to charge my car, which is unacceptable anyway, for a 20-minute drive," said Smith.

KCRA reached out to Lyft on Wednesday to confirm if the driver is still contracted on the platform.

"Safety is fundamental to Lyft, and we never want anyone in our community to feel unsafe," a Lyft spokesperson said in a statement on Thursday. "We are deeply sorry that Ms. Smith had to endure this distressing ordeal, and we have reached out to offer our support. The behavior described has no place in the Lyft community, and we have permanently removed the driver's account from the Lyft platform."

Another Dutch Bros coffee shop is opening in the Sacramento area — less than 2 miles away from the popular chain’s nearest location.

The Dutch Bros drive-thru at 1951 Freedom Way in Roseville was listed as “coming soon” on the company’s website as of Friday.

“We are in the very early stages, so we don’t have a firm timeline to share yet,” Dutch Bros spokeswoman Alissan Speidel wrote in an email on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Google gives “November” as a starting date for the new location.

Dutch Bros’ newest location is about a five-minute drive — approximately 1.7 miles — from another Dutch Bros drive-thru at 1478 Blue Oaks Blvd. in Roseville, according to Google Maps.

That location celebrated its grand opening in late August, The Sacramento Bee previously reported.

Dutch Bros was founded in 1992 by Brothers Dane and Travis Boersma, who started their business with an espresso machine and a cart, according to its site.

Marketed as a “community-driven, people-first culture,” the Oregon-based company evolved into a drive-thru concept with locations across the United States.

Dutch Bros’ newest Sacramento-area location is in the Freedom Point Plaza shopping center in Roseville, near Topgolf and Living Spaces.

Dutch Bros filed an application with the city of Roseville for a 950-square-foot location that will feature a drive-through as well as parking, Sacramento Business Journal reported in April 2023.

Speidel said the Dutch Bros site will have approximately 40 employees.

On Reddit, locals reacted to news of the planned Dutch Bros location with a mixture of amusement and frustration.

“Are you kidding me?” Reddit user Juggernaut-408 wrote Friday, Sept. 27, in a comment. “They are building Dutch Bros on every corner.”

Several Reddit commenters noted the new location’s proximity to other Roseville coffeehouses, including Peet’s Coffee and Starbucks.

The Bee asked Speidel why Dutch Bros chose Freedom Way as the site of its new drive-thru coffee shop.

“This location was chosen because Dutch Bros will have the opportunity to serve Roseville, Rocklin and Lincoln,” she said, “and our goal is to one day serve every community!”

The menu at Dutch Bros features drinks ranging from coffee and hot cocoa to lemonade, iced tea, smoothies and energy drinks, according to its site.

Eight different coffee drinks are listed on the menu as “fan favorites.” They include the Golden Eagle, made with espresso, steamed half-and-half and vanilla syrup, to the Annihilator with chocolate and macademia nut flavors.

The coffee shop chain also offers seasonal drinks such as the Caramel Pumpkin Brulee Breve and the Flapjack Mocha.

The limited food menu includes lemon poppyseed and orange cranberry muffin tops, as well as granola bars.

Dutch Bros is typically open seven days a week, according to the company’s site.

Business hours are from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., daily.

As of June 30, there were more than 900 Dutch Bros locations in the United States, the company stated.

Sites in the Sacramento region include Sacramento, Elk Grove, Citrus Heights and Roseville.

In late July, Sacramento resident Alex Betts was walking across a Roseville parking lot when she heard a meowing come from a drainage ditch.

She often sees turkeys and goats around the Sutter Roseville Medical Center, where she works as a medical assistant. But this was the first time she had seen a cat.

“It almost sounded like there was a cat stuck in someone’s engine,” Betts said. “He was malnourished. He was yowling, like he was in pain.”

Little did she know that the Siamese cat, named Rayne Beau and pronounced “rainbow,” traveled more than 800 miles from Yellowstone National Park. In June, he got lost in the woods on a camping trip — the Roseville parking lot was a pit stop on his way home to his human parents, who live in Salinas.

Over the next few days, Betts would order wet cat food from Doordash, and put it out for Rayne Beau, along with water. After work, she would sit with him for 30 minutes.

Betts took the cat home, where Rayne Beau stayed for a few days — much to Betts’ 11 year-old son’s joy.

“My son is a very big cat lover. We have this thing in my house called ‘cat law,’ where if a cat is sleeping on you, you don’t have to be bothered, even if I’m asking him to do chores,” Betts said.

Betts posted on a Facebook group for lost and found pets to find the kitty’s owners. Then, she left the cat under the care of Placer SPCA, which scanned Rayne Beau’s microchip and notified his owners Benny and Susanne Anguiano of his location.

“We were all very happy that the cat was back with his family and amazed,” Betts said.“We have no idea how the cat traveled that far in the right direction.”

The Anguianos had gone on camping trips with Rayne Beau and his twin sister Starr several times before, Susanne Anguiano told The Bee.

While the couple was setting up their trailer, Rayne Beau’s leash got caught. As his owner worked on untangling it, he became free, running straight into the woods.

Susanne Anguiano started screaming and ran after him, she recalled.

“It’s this perfect storm, so to speak,” Anguiano said. “What was going through my mind was, ‘Oh my god, I can’t believe this is happening.’”

Anguiano stayed in the forest for two hours, calling after him, but the terrain — filled with logs — made it difficult to search. The owners took out toys, bed, and his litterbox to lure Rayne Beau back.

“Every day for hours, we looked for him,” Anguiano said. “Our reservation ended and we couldn’t stay any longer … That was so hard”

The owners looked for five days, holding onto hope that their furry friend found shelter and food. On the drive out of Yellowstone, the atmosphere was “somber,” Anguiano said. But when the Anguianos entered the desert, they saw a double rainbow.

“I said, ‘Oh my gosh, that is a sign that our Rayne Beau is going to be ok,” Anguiano said.

It’s unclear how Rayne Beau traveled the distance to Roseville. Anguiano hopes that anyone who came into contact with Rayne Beau during his journey home comes forward to uncover the mystery of how he made his journey home.

When Rayne Beau returned home, Anguiano felt “ecstatic, overjoyed and grateful.” But, his blood work showed that he didn’t have enough protein and lacked nutrition. Since his homecoming, he has been resting and since recovered.

Rayne Beau had another surprise when he came home: a new sibling, 2-year-old Siamese Maxx. His owners got Maxx to be a companion for his sister during Rayne Beau’s absence.

“Everyone is just doing great,” Anguiano said.

The Anguianos are deeply appreciative of Betts’ care for their cat. As an animal lover and having fostered four kids before, Betts emphasized the importance of kindness.

“Each time people tell me, ‘You shouldn’t be doing this. You’re not going to get anything out of it,’” Betts said. “That’s not what these things are about. I’m doing this for the four kids. I’m doing this for the cat.”

ROSEVILLE, CA — A gray cat living an extraordinary life of visits to the beach and trips to the lake went on his biggest adventure alone: traveling hundreds of miles from Wyoming to California.

But how the feline named Rayne Beau — pronounced "rainbow" — made it home two months after getting lost in Yellowstone National Park during a summer camping trip remains a mystery.

Benny and Susanne Anguiano and their two cats arrived at Yellowstone's Fishing Bridge RV Park on June 4 for the cats' first trip to the forest. But soon after they arrived, Rayne Beau was startled and ran into the nearby trees.

The couple looked for him for four days, even laying out his favorite treats and toys. When they finally had to drive back to Salinas, California, on June 8, Susanne Anguiano said she was crushed but never lost hope she would find him.

"We were entering the Nevada desert and all of a sudden I see a double rainbow. And I took a picture of it and I thought, that's a sign. That's a sign for our rainbow that he's going to be okay," she said.

Find out what's happening in Rosevillewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

In August, the Anguianos received amazing news when a microchip company messaged them that their cat was at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Roseville, California, nearly 900 miles (1,448 kilometers) from Yellowstone. He was only about 200 miles (322 kilometers) away from his home in Salinas.

A woman who first saw Rayne Beau wandering the streets of the northern California city fed him and gave him water until she trapped him on Aug. 3 and took him to the local SPCA.

The next day, the Anguianos drove to Roseville and picked up their cat, who had lost 6 pounds.

"I believe truly that he made that trek mostly on his own. His paws were really beat up. Lost 40% of his body weight, had really low protein levels because of inadequate nutrition. So he was not cared for," Susanne Anguiano said.

The couple still doesn't know how their cat got to Roseville but believes he was trying to get home.

They have reached out to the media hoping to fill in the blanks.

Benny Anguiano said that besides microchipping their cats, they now have also fitted two of them with air tags and Rayne Beau with a GPS global tracker.

The cats love traveling in the camper and looking out the big windows to see deer, squirrels and other animals. But the family is not ready to get on the road with their pets again any time soon, he said.

"It was a very ugly feeling after we lost him," Benny Anguiano said. "We'll have to practice camping at home and camp in the driveway to get him used to it."

Conclusion

Roseville has several great dog parks where you can let your dog run for a while and have fun. We recommend Bear Dog Park because it has separate areas for large and small dogs and plenty of agility equipment to help burn off excess energy. There are even scenic walking trails that you and your pet can enjoy. Most of these parks are open from sunrise to just after sunset, but if you need something overnight, you can visit Blue Oaks Park, though you will need to keep your pet on a leash.
