What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?
We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the San Bernardino restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:
Infrared Cameras
Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.
Moisture Meters
We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.
Air Movers
This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.
Ozone Generators
These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.
Xtreme Xtractor
This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.
Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About
Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in San Bernardino, CA, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:
Clean Water Damage
This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.
Gray Water Damage
Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.
Black Water Damage
The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.
If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:
- Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
- Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
- Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.
Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in San Bernardino, CA

At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.
After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.
Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.
The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.
- Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
- Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
- Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
- Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

Authorities are looking for more potential victims of a man arrested in Southern California for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting a woman he met on a dating app.
Luis David Garcia, 37, from Bloomington, was arrested Tuesday after he was accused of raping a woman he met on Tinder, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
On Oct. 19, deputies from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station responded to a reported rape that occurred at around 3 a.m.
The victim told authorities she had been communicating with Garcia on the app before eventually meeting for the first time at his home. At some point, the woman was drugged, and she awoke to find Garcia performing sexual acts on her, authorities said.
The woman was able to leave Garcia’s home and immediately called 911 for medical assistance.
A search warrant was served at the suspect’s home on the 9700 block of Locust Avenue, where investigators discovered evidence that more unreported victims may exist, authorities said.
“I believe he was actually on several dating apps,” said Cpl. Adam Cervantes from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station. “We do have reason to believe that he may have contacted other people, so that’s why we’re trying to identify additional victims by releasing his photo.”
Neighbors told KTLA’s Shelby Nelson that Garcia is a renter at the home and reportedly only moved in a few months ago from Nothern California.
The neighbor said he knew little about Garcia and would only see him in passing whenever he spotted him sitting on his black motorcycle out front.
Garcia was arrested on multiple charges, including rape by use of intoxicating substances, rape of an unconscious victim, and sexual penetration with a foreign object. He was booked at the West Valley Detention Center.
Further details on the exact evidence that was found at the home were not released.
Authorities are warning the public always to use caution when meeting someone from a dating app in real life.
“If you’re going to be on an online dating app and it’s your first time meeting somebody, you’ll want to meet in a public place where there’s good lighting,” Cervantes advised. “Take your own car. Don’t offer to have somebody you don’t know pick you up.”
Authorities also advised keeping a close eye on any drinks you may consume during the meetup.
Anyone who may have been a victim of Garcia or has information on the case is urged to contact Detective D. Pedersen at 909-356-6710 or dpedersen@sbcsd.org.

The Mayhem Festival is back! Arriving to find free general parking was a good omen for this Bad Omens headlined festival. Ash Avildsen’s Sumerian Records was heavily featured on the bill proving that he was the right guy to help bring the festival back.
Escuela Grind, Peyton Parris, It Dies Today, and Born of Osiris kicked things off at the red and black stages before System of a Down’s Shavo Odadjian’s new band Seven Hours After Violet hit the main stage. Then it was back to the red and black stages for Unearth and Japan’s metalcore girls Hanabie, who got the crowd dancing. Poppy kept the girls represented on the main stage after the Hanabie set.
Darkest Hour amped things back up on the black stage followed by Throwdown on the red stage. Throwdown’s Dave Peters came down to sing to the crowd at the barrier.
Back on the main stage, Jinjer played a ferocious set that seemed a bit out of place in broad daylight.
After the Burial kept the energy up at the black stage.
Mayhem Festival alums Suicide Silence killed the red stage and arguably had the largest crowd of festival artists and personnel watching side stage. Vocalist Eddie Hermida had the entire crowd singing with him at the barrier.
The red and black stages got a little behind schedule, so We Came as Romans were on the black stage as Architects were playing the main stage. It was a haul up and over the hill to the main stage, so the crowd remained thick at the red and black stages and were rewarded with We Came as Romans’ Dave Stephens coming out into the crowd for a song.
Kittie hit the red stage and took us through sundown. They’ve been mainstays on the festival circuit since reuniting in 2022 for When We Were Young and Blue Ridge Rock Festival.
August Burns Red closed things out on the black stage.
Parkway Drive and Bad Omens closed out the night on the main stage.

A Norco man was held without bail in San Bernardino County on suspicion of sparking the Line Fire, which scorched more than 36,000 acres.
The fire, which was reported at around 6:30 p.m. last Thursday near Base Line Road and Aplin Street in Highland, was 14% contained as of Wednesday.
About 73,000 structures were threatened by the fire, which affected 100,000 people in the area, according to officials.
No loss of life was reported.
Arson suspect arrested
As soon as the vegetation fire was first reported, Cal Fire officials with the San Bernardino unit began an investigation, reviewing surveillance video and automatic license plate readers.
When investigators conducted a search warrant at the home of Justin Wayne Halstenberg, 34, in the 1000 block of Detroit Street in Norco, they said they located evidence supporting his arrest in the house as well as the car.
Although Halstenberg’s LinkedIn profile says he is a delivery driver for FedEx, the company said the man wasn’t an employee last Thursday when the fire was first reported.
"This individual is no longer providing service on behalf of FedEx, nor was he at the time of this fire," FedEx said in a statement.
“It's my belief that as time goes on – and we allow them to do the critical work that they're doing – that we will actually find out this suspect may have been responsible for other fires,” San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus said during a news conference Wednesday.
Looting, burglaries
While firefighters made progress in expanding the containment of the fire as the temperatures dropped slightly Wednesday, authorities also sent a warning message to “opportunists” trying to loot vacated businesses or burglarized homes.
At least two people were arrested for burglaries, according to the sheriff.
“I'm drawing a line in the sand. If you're going to be an opportunist in San Bernardino County, We will catch you. You are going to jail,” Dicus said. “We have a DA that will prosecute you.”
