Manchester (7-0, 4-0) will also host Triway (6-1, 3-0) in a Principals Athletic Conference showdown, and with a win the Panthers would clinch the PAC title for the first time since 2017.

Twenty-two Akron-area high school football games are on the schedule for Week 7 this weekend, but you would be forgiven for thinking it's just two.
Or maybe only one.
Take your pick: Archbishop Hoban at Walsh Jesuit. Nordonia at Wadsworth.
Hoban is 5-1 and Walsh is 6-0. The Warriors lost two games last season — and both were to the Knights, who finished state runners-up. They're playing not just for bragging rights locally, but in the state.
Nordonia and Wadsworth, meanwhile, are both 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Suburban League National Conference — so the winner will be in extremely strong position to wrap up a conference title and be positioned for a strong postseason run as well.
Also in action are unbeatens Highland (at Brecksville), Manchester (at Tuslaw), Aurora (vs. Tallmadge) and Streetsboro vs. Woodridge).

This is when the real fun starts for Ohio high school football.
After an exciting regular season from which three Akron-area teams emerged with unbeaten records, the 2024 postseason opens at 7 p.m. today for 19 local teams in first-round OHSAA playoff games. Seeds 1-8 are the home teams.
Leading that group is the Akron area's only No. 1 seed — Walsh Jesuit (10-0), also the top team in the final USA Today Network Ohio Super 25 Poll. The Warriors are heavy favorites against Willoughby South (3-7).
Also in action are No. 2 seeds Archbishop Hoban (8-2), which will play Firestone (5-5); Suburban League National Conference champion Highland (10-0), which will meet Fremont Ross (5-5); and Principals Athletic Conference champion Manchester (9-1), which will play Youngstown Liberty (5-5).
Among local No. 3 seeds, Nordonia (8-2) will play Solon (3-7), CVCA (8-2) will face University School (5-5) and Streetsboro (10-0) will play Cardinal Mooney (3-7).

OHSAA football state championship games in Canton in December
Ohio high school football's 10-game regular season leads up to the Ohio High School Athletic Association state playoffs in November — and ultimately, the OHSAA state championship games. The state finals are Dec. 5-7 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton — the fourth straight year all of the titles are being played there.
