What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?

We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Conroe restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:

Infrared

Infrared Cameras

Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.

Moisture

Moisture Meters

We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.

Air Movers

Air Movers

This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.

Generators

Ozone Generators

These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.

Xtractor

Xtreme Xtractor

This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.

Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About

Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Conroe, TX, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:

Clean Water Damage

Clean Water Damage

Clean

This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.

Gray Water Damage

Gray Water Damage

Gray-Water

Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.

Black Water Damage

Black Water Damage

Black-Water

The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.

If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:

Stop the Source of Water
  • Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
  • Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
  • Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.

Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Conroe, TX

Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.

We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.

After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.

Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.

The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.

  • Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
  • Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
  • Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
  • Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

CONROE, Texas — Parents at a Conroe Independent School District elementary school said they're appalled after learning multiple students peed on themselves when a teacher revoked their restroom privileges.

The district said it's investigating the incident that allegedly occurred during the school day on Wednesday at Bartlett Elementary. That's when parents told KHOU 11 they received a message from the first-grade teacher.

The message said to be from the teacher was shared with KHOU 11 News. In it, the teacher said the students lost their privilege to use the restroom during class because they lost their “restroom badge” while they were in the hallway. The message went on to say that some students ended up peeing on themselves in class. The teacher apologized to parents in the message.

"It's just appalling, it's very appalling, it's sad," parent Amber Johnson said. "The amount of infections and health things that can come from a child holding their urine that long is unacceptable."

Johnson said her daughter told her the incident caused emotional distress for the students involved.

"She was telling me that her friends were crying and pleading to go to the restroom," Johnson said.

A mother of one of the students who urinated themselves also spoke with KHOU 11 but did not want to be identified.

"She was pretty upset, she had to walk around in soaking clothes and soaking shoes," the mother said. "It's very frustrating, it's very frustrating."

The mother said her frustration grew after she had a conversation with the school principal who said there was also a teacher's aid in the classroom as well.

"They're an adult, you know, common sense would be, 'OK, well, she's not letting them go to the bathroom, there's multiple students saying that they need to go to the restroom, that's a human right, period,'" the mother told KHOU 11. "It doesn't matter if someone was playing in the restroom, lost a pass or whatever."

KHOU 11 reached out to Conroe ISD for comment. A representative sent the letter that was distributed to parents.

"This afternoon, we were made aware of a situation in a first-grade classroom in which restroom privileges were revoked. I have spoken with the parents of both students who, upsettingly, had accidents. The class will have a current staff member to serve as the substitute teacher for the remainder of the week while we complete our investigation into the matter. This incident is not indicative of the safe and loving environment we foster at Bartlett Elementary. I thank you for your support and continued partnership."

In an email to KHOU 11, the district said the teacher in question will not be on campus for the rest of the week as the investigation continues.

The district said the incident allegedly occurred during the school day on Wednesday. That's when parents told KHOU 11 they received a message from the first-grade teacher.

“We have always tried to give local fans of the show a real taste of what the TV show is like, but also what the art of bladesmithing is really about. FOX 26 Reporter Jade Flury has the latest on the tragic discovery made at Lake Conroe.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas - A search for a missing Montgomery County boater ended in tragedy as officials located him on Monday afternoon.

Authorities were searching for 44-year-old Stephen Marriott.

SUGGESTED: Houston crash: 2-year-old taken to the hospital after being struck by vehicle

Officials said it all started when they received a 911 call on Saturday night in reference to an overdue boater on Lake Conroe.

Authorities said they were told Marriott had gone fishing near FM 1375 and the Cagle Boat Ramp and hadn't returned.

Law enforcement and fire department officials responded to the area and located Marriott's vehicle and boat trailer inside of Walker County. However, they were unable to locate Marriott.

His boat was later located in gear and unoccupied near a small island close to FM 1375. Inside the boat was Marriott's life vest and cell phone.

The search for Marriott continued through Saturday night and during the day on Sunday.

"Between us, the Precinct One Constables Office here in Montgomery County, the Texas Parks and Wildlife, the fire departments, we all have sightscans and scan the bottom of the lake, and we pick up images and that’s how we were able to find him," said Lieutenant Travis Higginbotham of the Montgomery County Precinct One Constable's Office.

Authorities stated Marriott's body was found approximately 100 yards from where authorities located his boat near FM 1375 in Walker County.

According to a release, Walker County Justice of the Peace Judge Cole has ordered an autopsy to be conducted to determine what caused the incident.

Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable Philip Cash said, "Regardless if you are an avid boater, an experienced swimmer, or on a watercraft for the first time, properly fitting life jackets save lives."

Officials said an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

CONROE, Texas (KHOU) - A Texas school district says a first grade teacher is no longer employed after she allegedly revoked her class’ restroom privileges as a punishment, resulting in several students urinating themselves.

Parents of students at Barlett Elementary were appalled after learning multiple first grade students peed on themselves when their teacher allegedly revoked their restroom privileges.

The Conroe Independent School District says the teacher is no longer employed after an investigation into the incident that allegedly occurred during the school day Wednesday. That’s when parents say they received a message from the teacher.

In the message shared by parents, the teacher said the students lost their privilege to use the restroom during class because they lost their “restroom badge” while they were in the hallway. The message went on to say that some students ended up peeing on themselves in class, and the teacher apologized to the parents.

“It’s just appalling. It’s very appalling. It’s sad,” parent Amber Johnson said. “The amount of infections and health things that can come from a child holding their urine that long is unacceptable.”

Johnson says her daughter told her the alleged incident caused emotional distress for the students involved.

“She was telling me that her friends were crying and pleading to go to the restroom,” Johnson said.

A mother of one of the students who urinated themselves also spoke out. She did not want to be identified.

“She was pretty upset. She had to walk around in soaking clothes and soaking shoes,” the mother said. “It’s very frustrating.”

The mother says her frustration grew after she had a conversation with the school principal who said there was also a teacher’s aid in the classroom.

“They’re an adult. Common sense would be, ‘OK, well, she’s not letting them go to the bathroom. There’s multiple students saying that they need to go to the restroom. That’s a human right – period,’” the mother said. “It doesn’t matter if someone was playing in the restroom, lost a pass or whatever.”

The school district said in a statement Friday that after an investigation, the teacher is no longer employed by the district.

“This incident is not a reflection of the thousands of exceptional educators teaching in classrooms across the District. We are committed to supporting the students and families impacted by this upsetting event and are dedicated to fostering a culture of mutual respect and care among all students, families, and staff,” read the statement in part.
