What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?
We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Lewisville restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:
Infrared Cameras
Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.
Moisture Meters
We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.
Air Movers
This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.
Ozone Generators
These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.
Xtreme Xtractor
This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.
Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About
Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Lewisville, TX, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:
Clean Water Damage
This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.
Gray Water Damage
Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.
Black Water Damage
The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.
If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:
- Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
- Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
- Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.
Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Lewisville, TX

At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.
After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.
Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.
The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.
- Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
- Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
- Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
- Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

HIGHLAND VILLAGE, Texas — A 14-year-old Duncanville boy drowned in Lewisville Lake at Copperas Branch Park on Saturday afternoon.
The child was later identified as 14-year-old Sebastian Delgado Hernandez, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner.
The teen's family says they are heartbroken. They say the Sunset High freshman was swimming with family at Copperas Branch Park Saturday afternoon when he went under the water, and didn’t come up.
About two hours later rescuers recovered his body.
He’s the third suspected drowning victim at Lake Lewisville in the past week, and the fourth in the month of September.
“We actually had a guy whose sister had a birthday party today and she saw the news this morning about the drowning that happened yesterday,” said Dallas Jet Ski owner Lamar Woodham. “They canceled the reservation because of it.”
Woodham says they’ve been operating out of Lake Lewisville since 2013 and they see close calls all the time.
“We did three rescues today,” Woodham said. “The one that he just did a gentleman jumping off the dock with no life jacket doesn't have any business in the water.”
He and his staff say people getting in the water who can’t swim is a big problem, and although free life jacket stations are positioned all around the lake, they’re not always utilized.
“You can take a look around and like 90% of these people do not have life jackets on,” said Dallas Jet Ski boat captain Josie Way.
Mark Prahl is a camp host at Lewisville Lake Park and says he’s always warning of the dangers.
“When the lake is low, you know, because this is all man made that when it gets so low that you go out so far, then it drops,” he said.
Families, like the Norris’, say they heard about the drownings but still came to the lake Sunday.
“I think the first thing comes in my head, it's like, how did it happen and how can we prevent it?” said Dakota Norris.
They say hearts go out to all four of this month’s victims. And they hope people will see the dangers and take extra precautions like they did.
The Medical Examiner's office is investigating the incident, according to the city.

LEWISVILLE, Texas — Another North Texas school district is considering closing schools due to budget constraints and declining enrollment.
Lewisville ISD is considering potentially closing five elementary schools: B.B. Owen Elementary, Creekside Elementary, Garden Ridge Elementary, Highland Village Elementary and Polser STEM Academy.
On Monday, the Lewisville ISD board of trustees reviewed the recommendations of the district’s community efficiency committee.
“I wish that we had the relief that we needed from the legislature, but as you mentioned, that’s not the only challenge. This decline in enrollment and these empty seats – 20% to over 30% -- is a lot. It’s a hard set of facts that we have to continue to work with,” said Lewisville ISD trustee Dr. Staci Barker.
District officials are also considering boundary adjustments for another eight schools -- Bluebonnet Elementary, Degan Elementary, Memorial STEM Academy Elementary, Old Settlers Elementary, Rockbrook Elementary, Creek Valley Middle School, Downing Middle School and Lakeview Middle School.
District officials say they plan to hold community listening sessions to get feedback before a final decision is made. The board expects a final decision on the issue in December. Any changes would take effect in the 2025-2026 school year.
“We will emerge from this as a stronger and a more united LISD,” said Lewisville ISD board president Jenny Proznik.
Some parents called for the districts to keep the schools open during public comment.
“Tonight I should be volunteering as a baseball coach for my two HVE Vikings. Instead, I’m here hoping my words will save their school and, frankly, all five elementary schools that were on that board from retirement,” said Lewisville ISD parent Ryan Ritter.
“Closing Polser affects 10% of the entire LISD STEM program. That’s a program that took years in the making, and Polser has established national recognition. I mean, their resume of accolades is impressive,” another parent, Amber Clark, added.
Other school districts in North Texas, including Coppell ISD and Plano ISD, have also recently discussed potential school closures.
