What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?
We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Davison restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:
Infrared Cameras
Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.
Moisture Meters
We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.
Air Movers
This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.
Ozone Generators
These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.
Xtreme Xtractor
This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.
Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About
Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Davison, MI, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:
Clean Water Damage
This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.
Gray Water Damage
Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.
Black Water Damage
The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.
If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:
- Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
- Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
- Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.
Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Davison, MI
Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.
We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.
After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.
Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.
The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.
- Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
- Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
- Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
- Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

DAVISON TWP., MI — Fifty thousand lights and counting.
Clark Griswold would be so proud.
The Trail of Lights is simply a beautiful sight to behold as you celebrate the holidays over the next few weeks.
Experience the wonder of the season at Robert Williams Nature and Historical Learned Center, located at 10069 E. Atherton Road in Davison Township.
“We’ve covered the woods with Christmas lights, and it’s only evolved from there year to year with better and brighter designs,” said Casey Reed, Davison Township Parks and Recreation director.
“There are so many drive-thru light displays, and we really wanted to encourage people to get outdoors and back into nature. This gives people something fun and nostalgic to do.”
The Trail of Lights tradition started in 2016. In it’s ninth year, the one-third-mile trail is now illuminated by more than 50,000 lights and features a number of stunning sights to witness nature’s beauty in a new, unique way.
The forest is lit up with a variety of seasonal lights that features a large walking tunnel, snowflake lights, incredible sights — even a giant dinosaur.
Some nights will be walking only, but two will exclusively feature tractor wagon rides.
Walking nights are 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 7, 13, 14, 20, 21 and 22. Tractor wagon ride nights are 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 15.
The cost is $4 for residents and $6 for non-residents. The experience is also pet friendly.
There are also specialty performances planned for some evenings, including performances from local choirs and ensembles and activities for families to enjoy.
Here is that schedule:
• Dec. 7: Market and Craft Night
• Dec. 8: Tractor Wagon Rides, Market and Craft Night
• Dec. 13: Davison High School Choir
• Dec. 14: Flint Brass Ensemble
• Dec. 15: Tractor Wagon Rides
• Dec. 20: World Outreach Center Choir
Sponsors for the Trail of Lights include RE/MAX EDGE, Dort Financial Credit Union, Goyette Mechanical, Graff Davison, Pierson Pet Hospital, The Brokerage Real Estate Enthusiasts and Culver’s of Davison.
“We have hot cocoa for sale, and Santa Claus is here every night,” Reed said. “It’s something here. It’s local. It’s become a family tradition for many that live around here. You can take your time, and we encourage to take as much time as you want.
“You see the kids running around. My kids love it. We can do it as many times as we want. Stop, have cocoa, warm up by the fire and head back out to see more. It brings a little light into the community during the Christmas season.”

DAVISON TWP, MI - A boil water advisory has been issued in Davison Township after a water main break was discovered on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
The Genesee County Drain Commissioner’s Office, Division of Water and Waste Services discovered the break near the intersection of Irish Road and Court Street.
Crews promptly responded, secured the line, and have completed the necessary repairs.
Related: Water main break interrupts service for some Davison Township residents, businesses
While the waterline has been repaired, and water service is being restored to homes and businesses along Irish Road and Court Street, a boil order is being put into place for the affected area, stretching from I-69 to the Irish Road railroad tracks.
This area includes Windsor Place, River Ridge, and Lions Gate Apartments and several businesses.
Township officials are advising residents and visitors in the affected area to take some precautions due to the advisory being issued.
Do not drink the water without boiling it first. Bring water to a boil for one minute, then let it cool before using, or use bottled water instead.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.
Boiling it ensures the water is safe by eliminating bacteria and other harmful organisms.
These precautionary actions are being taken due to the loss of water pressure caused by a water main break.
Whenever a water system loses pressure for any significant length of time, precautionary measures are recommended.
Remedial actions such as flushing and collecting bacteriological samples from around the system are also occurring.
Several sets of samples will be collected and tested over the next 48 hours to ensure the water quality meets the state drinking water standards.
The township will inform the public when tests show no bacteria and no longer need to boil the water.
This boil water notice will remain in effect until results from the sampling verify the water is safe to drink.
Residents will be advised when the boil water advisory has been lifted.
Residents in the area indicated on the map above may also experience localized discoloration of water once service is restored, and are asked to run their lines for 2-3 minutes if this occurs.
Residents who have questions regarding their water service should contact the Genesee County Drain Commissioner’s Office at 810-732-7870.
The after-hours emergency number for the Genesee County Drain Commissioner’s Office is 810-762-3626.
General guidelines on ways to lessen the risk of infection by microbes are available from the EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.

DAVISON, MI - The tension was palpable at kickoff as the rivalry between Grand Blanc and Davison played out in front of thousands of fans.
Coming into this matchup, there was more than bragging rights on the line as both Davison and Grand Blanc were unbeaten in Saginaw Valley League Red play.
This is the game, played on Friday, Oct. 18 at Cardinal Stadium in Davison, that would determine the champion.
Grand Blanc and Davison punched touchdowns in back and forth, scoring an impressive 21 points a piece in the first quarter alone.
Airborne TDs. Rushing TDs from quarterbacks. And as the half continued the rich offensive play calling did as well on both sidelines.
Davison ran back a kick return for a touchdown in the second quarter, and after a Grand Blanc’s defense blocked a punt at the 12-yard line, they showed off a what can only be described as a Ben Johnson style Detroit Lions shake and bake trick play, where the quarterback found himself on the receiving end of a touchdown in Jared Goff fashion.
Nearly a perfect offensive look from both teams in the first half, Davison led 35-34 going into the locker room at halftime.
Both teams continued the same effort into the second half, and the Bobcats outlasted the Cardinals, defeating Davison 55-49 on their home field.
Grand Blanc is now 7-1 going in to the final week of regular season play, while Davison falls to 6-2.
