What Tools Does Disaster Response Use for Water Damage Clean-Up?

We only use the best equipment! With our extensive experience in the Goodrich restoration industry, we've acquired state-of-the-art tools designed to tackle a wide range of challenges. This experience has also allowed our technicians to identify which type of equipment is best for a particular situation. Some of the most common water damage restoration tools we use include:

Infrared

Infrared Cameras

Our infrared cameras give us the ability to see moisture in walls and ceilings that is not visible to the naked eye, almost like having "X-ray" vision. This capability allows us to detect and address trapped and hidden humidity, significantly reducing the risk of mold growth.

Moisture

Moisture Meters

We use moisture meters to measure moisture levels in cellulose material. Before and after the drying process, we will conduct moisture readings in all areas of your property. If we detect moisture in an unaffected area of your building, we'll get to work quickly to dry it.

Air Movers

Air Movers

This equipment is designed to work in conjunction with our dehumidifiers. While our dehumidifiers extract moisture from the air and convert it to a liquid, our Air Mover helps to circulate this moisture in the air so that the dehumidifier can effectively remove it.

Generators

Ozone Generators

These advanced tools enable us to cleanse affected surfaces and the air in a more effective manner. Ozone Generators work by causing oxygen molecules to implode, making them a valuable deodorization tool.

Xtractor

Xtreme Xtractor

This tool is great for tackling tough moisture after water damage. It allows us to apply direct pressure to a surface, like a carpet, that has soaked up water. The pressure helps draw out the water, making it easier to remove.

Top 3 Types of Water Damage You Should Know About

Water damage can strike without warning and can wreak havoc on your property, leaving you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Whether it's from a burst pipe, a severe storm, or an overflowing appliance, your property needs immediate water damage clean-up in Goodrich, MI, to prevent further harm. Here are the top three types of water damage you should know about:

Clean Water Damage

Clean Water Damage

Clean

This type of water damage happens from a "clean" source, such as rainwater or a broken pipe in your home. It's easier to clean up than others on this list but can still cause extensive property damage when ignored.

Gray Water Damage

Gray Water Damage

Gray-Water

Gray water damage stems from appliances such as toilets without feces, washing machines, and dishwashers. Gray water sometimes contains bacteria and contaminants that can make you or your family sick.

Black Water Damage

Black Water Damage

Black-Water

The name alone indicates the severity of this type of water damage. It's caused by backed-up sewer lines, river flooding, and standing water that supports bacteria growth. Black water presents serious health hazards and needs to be handled by professional water damage contractors.

If you suspect your home or business has been damaged by one or more of the types of water above, take the following steps:

Stop the Source of Water
  • Be Safe: Turn off all electricity running through your property. Don't go near or touch any water you believe to be contaminated.
  • Stop the Source of Water: If you're able, put a stop to the water at its source. That way, you can prevent more damage.
  • Call Disaster Response: Contact our water damage company ASAP for water restoration services. Our team is available 24/7 to respond to emergencies.

Our Process for Water Damage Restoration in Goodrich, MI

Having a water damage restoration company by your side who knows how to remediate moisture is a key factor in getting your life back on track. At Disaster Response, we have refined our process over 40+ years of water damage clean-up experience. That way, we can provide customers with reliable, comprehensive service when they need it the most.

We utilize powerful pumps and vacuums to eliminate standing water from your property. Swift water removal is essential in minimizing damage and lowering the likelihood of mold growth. Our team is dedicated to ensuring efficient water extraction to prevent any additional complications.

After extracting water from your property, we dry and dehumidify the impacted areas. We use industrial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to do so to eliminate moisture from walls, floors, and furniture. Proper drying helps prevent warping, swelling, and the growth of mold.

Whenever we deal with water damage, we have to address the potential contaminants and bacteria that can enter your home. We make sure to thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas to create a safe living environment. This involves cleaning carpets, upholstery, and personal belongings. Our technicians also use antimicrobial treatments to prevent mold and bacterial growth.

The final step in the process is the restoration of your home to its pre-damage condition. This comprehensive restoration process may encompass a range of tasks, from minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpeting to major reconstruction efforts. Rest assured that Disaster Response is fully equipped to manage all aspects of water damage restoration, from start to finish.

  • Maintenance: Have your business or home's roof, appliances, and plumbing inspected by professionals to spot early signs of wear and tear.
  • Water Alarms: If there is a flood or leak in your home, a water alarm can alert you so that you can take action immediately.
  • Drainage: Your home needs proper drainage systems in place at all times. To prevent water buildup, be sure to unclog your downspouts and gutters.
  • Cracks and Gaps: Be sure to seal up any cracks and gaps in your property's foundation to limit water from getting inside.

GOODRICH, MI – Chase Burnett doesn’t even think about the 15 percent.

He’s too focused on putting the other 85 percent in harm’s way, which is also the path to a Division 4 football district title.

The Goodrich senior ran 37 times for 197 yards and two touchdowns, powering past Freeland for a 27-21 win Friday at Goodrich. The Martians get another home game in the regional final against 8-3 Haslett.

“He never goes down it seems with the first hit,” Goodrich coach Tom Alward said. “He’s one of the toughest kids I’ve ever coached. He’s just iron.”

While the spirit is iron, the body is not. He suffered a shoulder injury in a Week 8 win over Fenton and sat out a Week 9 win over Williamston. Burnett also missed part of Goodrich’s playoff-opening win over Ortonville-Brandon.

But when the Martians needed 37 carries Friday, Burnett gave them 37 carries.

“He’s not 100 percent, so what he did was probably at about 85 percent,” Alward said. “But he’s got so much heart that his 85 is my 150.”

After Freeland’s Brayden Petre opened the scoring with a 64-yard TD run, Goodrich answered with a 1-yard TD run by Burnett. Jakoby Lagatt’s 3-yard TD run gave Goodrich a 13-7 halftime lead.

Goodrich opened the second half with a 20-yard TD pass from Tanner Mazich to Max Macklem before Petre scored on a 1-yard TD run on the third play of the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 20-13.

But Goodrich went on a 14-play drive that took more than eight minutes off the clock. Burnett had 10 carries in the drive, including a 1-yard run for a 27-13 lead with 2:13 remaining in the game.

“To be completely honest, I’m beat right now,” Burnett said. “Physically, I’m beat. But mentally, I’m on top of the world right now. I know my teammates have my back, and I know they’re all fighting too. They’re all hurting. We just battled together.”

Freeland, however, didn’t go away. The Falcons completed three consecutive passes, including a 15-yard TD pass from Jake Metiva to Zander Wheatley, with Petre running in the 2-pointer to cut the lead to 27-21 with 1:16 remaining.

“I just got done telling the kids that’s a championship drive you just had,” Alward said. “We kick the ball off to them and three plays later they’re in the end zone. After that, I told them that one first down equals a championship. You get that first down, and we win this thing.”

So on third-and-3, the Martians gave the ball to Burnett, who ran for eight yards, a first down and a district title.

“When tough times happen like that, we figure it out and we’re all good,” Burnett said. “Both lead blockers hit the backers, everyone did their job, and I’m flying.”

Lagat finished with 69 yards on six carries, while Macklem caught three passes for 44 yards. Goodrich finished with 286 yards rushing.

“We were ourselves tonight … that’s what we do,” Alward said. “That’s the mentality these guys have. They’ve been working for this since the 8th of January. It’s been 10 months today that they started with 5:30 workouts in the morning. I think it showed.”

Freeland finishes with an 9-2 record, falling to Goodrich in the district final for the third consecutive season.

“They’re huge and powerful and a classy program,” Freeland coach Kevin Townsend said. “They pound the ball, pound the ball, pound the ball … 15-play, 8-minute drives. It’s frustrating to watch.

“They never punted once. You knew which way they were going. You knew who was getting the ball. But you still couldn’t stop them. They’re old school. They’re going to do what they do.”

Petre finished with eight carries for 121 yards, while Metiva completed 5 of 6 passes for 96 yards. Freeland finished with 204 yards rushing.

Ethan Fowler led the defense with 10 tackles, while Wheatley and Keegan Whelton added eight tackles each, with Wheatley also intercepting a pass. Triston Comer, Garrett Kain and Mason Kozumplik followed with seven tackles each.

“We have 27 juniors, but you feel for your seniors,” Townsend said. “Bray had an amazing game for a senior, balling out with every single thing that he had. We’re super excited about the juniors coming back. I know some of the kids will want to be in the weight room Monday. I told them they’re going to lose at other things in life. It’s how you bounce back from adversity. They’re going to lose far more important things than this.

“At the end of this, you have eight extremely happy coaches and eight pretty happy coaches as runners-up. Everyone else gets their heart broken.”
