End of the Prep Bowl in Chicago?
An Illinois athletic director is seeking the end of the annual Prep Bowl high school football games in Chicago, according to the Sun-Times.
Sycamore athletic director Chauncey Carrick submitted a proposal to eliminate the games, released Friday along with other IHSA bylaw amendment proposals.
“The schools in the Chicago Public League (CPL) and the Chicago Catholic League (CCL) have the same opportunity to participate in the IHSA playoffs as the other 39 conferences that play football in the IHSA," Carrick wrote in his rationale for the bylaw amendment. "By allowing the CPL and the CCL to have an additional playoff system, this gives their programs a significant advantage over the remaining 39 football conferences in the IHSA."
The Prep Bowl, which was started in 1927, features the winners of a consolation playoff between football teams that have been eliminated from or did not qualify for the playoffs. While the IHSA limits the number of games a team can play, the Prep Bowl was given an exemption in 1981, according to the Sun-Times.

Temperatures at kickoff around Peoria should be in the low 50s and dip into the mid-40s by the time games wrap up around central Illinois. No precipitation is expected. On Saturday, the afternoon temps should stay in the 50s, with a about a 20 percent chance of precipitation possible in the evening.
